It's not listed in "Future Products" anymore, but rather, with the rest of the products. It also has the 8700M GT listed for $86 more than the 7950GTX.
I remember it used to look a lot more expensive here. Has it gone down in price?
-
i thought Nvidia hasn't even released the 8700 GT yet...
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Clevo certainly has not released it yet.
I can assure you Eurocom could not ship it today, or even for the next several weeks. The earliest would be sometime in August or September.
Forget what it says on their website...call them and get a ship date. If they are honest they will tell you that they really don't know for sure...they haven't even received their first shipment of the M570RU! -
Oh, I knew it wasn't ready to ship now. By "available" I meant as an option. Still, I really like the pricing.
-
-
Anyone care for a link? Curious as to what this laptop has to offer for the price.
-
http://www.eurocom.com/products/index.htm
It is in the catagory to the very right and at the top -
Hmm, that's not too bad for a 17 incher, though I can't really say about how the keyboard's a little off center due to the numberpad...
-
No, its a grand more then the same thing at Powernotebooks.
Same old story.
Its almost like someone doesn't have to compete for business and they know it. -
Pongo, did you set it to USD?
-
eurocom made an upgrade today on the config, it would be better to say a downgrade:
the basic proc as gone from t7300 to t7100, and the basic RAM as gone from 2*1G to 1*1G...for the same price as yesterday...some bringing it to the same config(t7300, 2gig, 8700mgt,wirlessN) will get about 2600$can insteed of 2300$can...
I have emailed them to ask for a better price, they didint answered me yet
VersuSqc -
I too emailed them about the recent "upgrade".
-
If +86 dollars is what we are expecting for 8700gt, then I'm def. waiting for it. Although I have a feeling that by the time 8700gt is shipping, nvidia make an anouncement about m8800.
-
-
Either way it's still a huge ripoff.
-
Did anyone hear back from Eurocom? I've sent them two emails concerning other things before and both of them were responded to within a few hours. It's been 4 days since I emailed them about the pricing changes and I've yet to get a response.
-
How does eurocom stay in business when they are so overpriced? They have the highest prices I've seen from any reseller or boutique.
Its about $1200.00 more than anyone else's price for the same configuration, and only $87.00 of that is for the 8700m which can't be configured at any other clevo or sager reseller. -
How many times have I said to say the Eurocom's web prices SHOULD NOT be taken too seriously ?!?
If you read the Clevo Guide, you would know.
Just contact them and they will easily price match or beat other quotes of the same systems from other vendors/resellers.
GEEZ. -
-
8700GTX,am i wrong??
even Toshiba only provides 8700GT.
well,this is sure a joke... -
No, I converted to US currency.
-
Batmaniac - You're not the only one trying to get a hold of Eurocom. It seems since my initial correspondence with them last Thursday, I still haven't heard back from them, despite my emailing them again, and phoning a few times during their business hours. How much do you want to bet they will ignore us until the pre-order price that Xotic and Powernotebooks are offering are over? Considering that it ends today at Powernotebooks, I guess I might hear from them tomorrow!
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
HA! Sager just extended the $100 pre-sale promotion on the Sager NP5790 until further notice
-
LOL, that's great! Maybe I won't get a call back at all now!
I know that if I didn't live in Canada, I sure wouldn't be dealing with Eurocom....especially now! -
Hey Donald, perhaps you should extend your operations towards Canada, seems like quite a market there from what I can tell from these forums!
-
I sure wish some of the quality dealers that Americans are lucky enough to deal with were here in Canada. Still no return phone call or email from Eurocom today either. Obviously they aren't very interested in my business, or at least my business at the price I'm willing to pay them. I will try phoning them again to see if I can talk to a live person - however I'm not too keen on giving my business to a place that doesn't return my emails or phone calls once the question of price comes up.
-
honestly i am surprised. I also had a no return to me situation with Eurocom. I know I always speak positively of them and I never had a bad experience with them. Heck last time they send me the second battery for a good price and in no-time. But this time I turned to xotic for a HDD clip.
My guess is probably they're out of sales person or they're all on vacation. I know my last 2 sales guy are out (in a year - strange). But once you get in touch with a sales guy, you're ok.
And oh, if you think Eurocom prices are high, take a look at Vancouver, BC based voodoo PC. The W:171 that looks like the D900C base price is 5000 US....
-
You're probably right - this is holiday season, so it makes sense that some people might be off right now.
Voodoo PC's prices are ridiculous. Honestly, I wonder who would be foolish enough to pay that much for a computer. Probably someone who hit it rich in Calgary (I think they are based in Calgary) who has more money than they know what to do with. -
This is absolutely ridiculous. I happen to have a day off today where I was hoping to get this sorted out, however, Eurocom must be really short of employees right now. I've phone several times throughout the day just to get put on hold waiting to speak to someone. I was on hold for about 45 minutes until I gave up. No one has responded to the two emails that I have sent them either, one I sent last Thursday, and the other yesterday morning. Unfortunately for Eurocom, this experience certainly isn't endearing me to do business with them now or in the future!
-
I sent an e-mail a month ago and they never answered me. Luckily, I discovered Xoticpc from looking around on this site. So far they have answered all my e-mails very promptly.
-
-
Exactly! It drives me nuts dealing with some businesses in Canada. Some of them know that you have no other option but to deal with them since they are the only retailer of a certain product and they use it to their advantage. Rip off pricing and poor customer service are the usual issues with these kind of businesses.
I'm a bit of a wrist watch aficionado, and I have found that Canadian retailers are often asking almost twice as much for the same watch as at an authorized retailer in the United States. If you can believe it, back when a Canadian dollar only bought 60 cent US, and taxes and shipping, I still saved 25% buying from an American retailer rather than buying it in Canada. I'm all for supporting Canadian stores, but I honestly think that some Canadian businesses use the lack of competitors to make a little more cash.
If customs and taxes weren't so brutal I sure wouldn't be dealing with Eurocom at all! -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I do not believe there are any Customs Duties on shipments from the US to Canada, only the same PST and GST that you would pay if you bought locally.
Check with Justin at Xoticpc.com...he ships to Canada. -
The system is complicated, and whether or not your actually supposed to be paying these fees, you'll almost always end up paying some extra fees at the border when buying expensive items from the US, whether it be customs/duty or brokerage or whatever else.
It's also extremely inconvenient if you need to send your system in for repairs and you're stuck waiting forever and paying these fees again. It's really just a big hassle that I could easily avoid if Eurocom would just answer my emails. -
Thanks Donald, I'm seriously considering it as an option. However, as Batmaniac says, you never quite know what you'll get hit with ordering things from the US. From what I can understand looking at the cryptic Canadian Customs website, it's unclear if I'll get hit by duties even with NAFTA (unclear if Customs will deem the computer as being manufactured in the US or not...if not it seems that duty needs to be paid). Perhaps I'll contact Justin and see if he knows. To top that off, a lot of the shipping companies (UPS being well known for this) like to charge exorbitant brokerage fees.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
UPS does not charge brokerage if you select either Worldwide Expedited, Saver or Express as your shipping method.
-
@Sir Slack
Yeah :-(. I was finally able to get in touch with someone for my brackets, but our email chat just ended instantly a week ago.
I'm a write an email to them to see what's happening... -
Thanks, I certainly appreciate it! I finally got a response, however, they aren't going to budge on the price at all. I don't feel it is appropriate for me to slander what was sent to me, but they suggested that their prices are higher because their competitors use sub-par components, thus they won't match the price. I'm calling BS on this one, but I'll see if I can talk to someone else there.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
sub-par Intel processors, Seagate hard drives, and ....???
You have indeed identified pure BS for exactly what it is. -
That is not good news.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do now.
I might as well get an Alienware or Dell laptop with the same configuration since it's going to cost me about the same as buying a Clevo from Eurocom.
Are there any other companies that offer high-end notebooks with 7950 GTXs? -
Yeah Donald, I agree. Nothing bothers me more when companies slander the products of others in order to justify their price. Especially when they are essentially exactly the same!
It's too bad that you don't ship to Canada, otherwise I think I'd have ordered from you by now! I think I'll hit up Justin! -
On top of jacking up the price did they confirm they are actually shipping the 8700GT?
-
Actually, I didn't ask - I'm not convinced the 8700GT is really worth waiting for. I need a laptop in pretty short order here, so I can't wait another month or two for th 8700GT to show up. 7950GTX will cut it for me fine for the next 2 years at least anyhow.
-
They confirmed to me that they are shipping the 8700GT with a higher priority than the 7950GTX.
-
Oh come on, give them something tangible to work on?
Sir Slack, did you at least assemble a configuration from Sager/Hypersonic and send it to them and ask a match. I honestly don't know how you did it, but anyway it's how I got an instant 800$ discount last year. You can't just ask them to lower their price. Get a quote on Hypersonic (they are cheaper than Sager IIRC), convert it to $CAD, and send them the quote.
BUT I totally agree they should not bash on competitor under the assumption they put cheaper stuff in it...
Anyway, here's what I sent them, and got a reply... wihin an hour.
!
Or they won't give a damn because they already sell the new models at full price and won't bother yet for pricematches.
Otherwise, then I'm sure Justin will be most glad to ship to Canada lol...
I am expecting a USP quote for car accessories for my Mazda coming from the U.S. This should weight like 20lbs so I'll keep you posted. -
Extra $95? It was $86 extra and just now I just checked it to confirm and now they have it at +$41..not consistent at all.
But the additional cost of upgrading CPU and Ram on the Eurocomm site is ridiculous.. -
Thanks for contacting them Patrick. I did send them a configuration of the M570RU from Xoticpc last Thursday with price and all the details. I didn't get a response until today. I was dealing with John Shore as well. He acknowledge that the computer was indeed a Clevo, and that competitors did sell it, but he justified the price saying that Eurocom uses higher quality, more expensive components, and insinuated that the products that Xotic and Sager offer are subpar to what Eurocom offers.
-
I sent them this:
I never received a response. -
BTW, it appears that Hypersonic doesn't have their version of the M570RU up to configure on their site.
-
Well, the ball is in their court now - I guess it's whether they want to sell them for a large profit, or a smaller one. Ha, if I don't buy it from them, that's no profit!
M570RU available at Eurocom with 8700M GT
