Reply to them and tell them we all use the same Intel Processors, Seagate/Hitachi Hard Drives, Intel Pro Wireless etc... Ask them how their version is above par then what these major manufacturers provide to everyone else?

    ROFL :)

    @Sir
Yeah, John seems not so good of a rep. I also never had a deal on my HDD bracket. Not too bright of him as most U.S. competitors use high performance parts as Eurocom use more standard parts.

    @Hawkg
Anyway you should think of price matching as a final value. Really I did a printscreen of my detailed config on Hypersonic and emailed them. I only took the lowest price I got.

    Wait... Found it:

    Look at last post ;).

    On another note:
    (my measurements are pretty conservative)

Fedex is a little cheaper and looks like if all documents are properly filled in, only GST/PST should be charged:

Go check the Eurocom site again. They changed the configuration back to the original.

Nothing can stop me now. Bring it on Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Waterloo!

Great! Well I'm glad persistence on the part of many people did something! Did they cut you a deal at all beyond the new price?

    Haha, didn't I told you ;).

Glad you put up your order Batmaniac. It's gonna be a nice machine. I so still like working with my 570u even after a year.

    Just a quick note though:
    1. If there are unflexible on the RAM price, get the standard config. and get another gig elsewhere...
    2. If they are unflexible on HDD ugprades, a nice Seagate 160gb 7200RPM with G-shock protection can be found for 183$ @ cendirect.com (fantastic canadian site - I order there all the time)
    3. Bluetooth is A MUST. Sorry about Anti-bluetooth peeps, but I have 2 MS mice (8000 desktop and laptop), one BT headset, and a Treo. My only gripe is when listening to music, all the bandwiith goes there and the mouse lags. Otherwise, no complaints.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh look at the Booq backpacks.... Albeit pricey, but worth every penny. I have the BOA for its more professional look, but I've also seen the python, and both are heck of backpacks.

The 7950GTX is still a much better card, thats why Rock is offering the 7950 GTX as a 100UKP (206$) upgrade, and when I configured it last week the delivery date showed up as 16 July, why are you guys getting it so late?

It looks like Rock just send out an email about the delay of the 8700.
That might answer your question ;)

Hello all. I am new to this site, and have been reading posts, and for the most part enjoying al the dirt ect . I have to say however, that I have had a totally different experience with Eurocom. We actually share a building with them in Ottawa, as a matter of fact, my small company sub-leases space from Eurocom. Because they are so close, we buy our Laptops from them, and I must say I have nothing but great things to say about them. The products we bought were a little more expensive then we could have gotten from the US, but the service we have recieved has been well worth any extra payed. I have a regular smoke break with several of the techs out back.. I pick there brains about what units they like ect, and have spoken to them about the US brands selling similar, or exactly the same units. They said if you buy from one of the big sellers like xtreme laptops, and some of the others, they provide a great machine with the same quality as there's. They have also said that Canadain Buyers of some of the US Machines have sent laptops to them for service becasue the service provided by some, it terrible. Sometimes they open a case and dont recognize the brand of RAM used at all. This is why I included Justin quote. Justin seems like an up and up guy but some sellers in the US use crap parts in their machine, to make sure they are cheaper then the compatiton. Please justin... You can't tell me that doesn't happen.

Thanks for all the great input guys. I will be reading more and contributing more soon!

    Tim

I ordered the m570RU from Eurocom with these specs:

    WSXGA display
    7950GTX
2 gigs of ram (1 SODIMM)
    Windows XP pro

All said and done, it cost me $2166 CAD, and that's including the shipping and GST. Not bad for a killer gaming laptop :D

EDIT: And i'm especially happy that both Crysis and Gears of War are coming out for PC and compatible with DX9 :D :D :D :D :D

Why should we be surprised that Eurocom would take care of their own tenant in their building? They don't take care of you...you don't pay the rent. Too bad they don't take care of others as well. Do you really think the people on this forum are lying?

Why should we be surprised that the Eurocom techs would praise xtreme...and call them a big seller? xtreme buys their laptops from Eurocom for Pete's sake...did they tell you that too? That is why the techs talk them up and say the quality will be the same. Who are they trying to kid here? :(

"They have said..." Tim, don't you get it yet? Do you think your smoking buddies might be biased? People don't really appreciate bashing the competition just to make themselves look good and it really reflects badly on those who do it. (Also, if they don't recognize a certain brand on RAM that only means they don't know too much about this business.)

Now that is quite a load! CanadaPCGuy, welcome to the forum, but please leave your offensive language out of your posts. You can express yourself without that can't you?

Sorry if you found that word offensive. Was not meant to be. Appologies to anyone it may have offended. Not sure who that might be, pretty common word but, you never know.

    Man, your one hostile dude!
I purchase my laptops from Eurocom because it is convienient, and they give good service...not because I owe them money.

Apearently I should reserve all computer questions for you becuase you recognize all brands of RAM ever manufatured. Forgive me for offering a decenting opinion on YOUR board.

Arn't you the guy who never speaks badly about the compatition??? I guess not anymore??

Welcome to the Powernotebooks chat board!

When you're talking about the reputation of a business then I can understand why the reply you received was a bit harsh. We're trying to keep things straight here - no bias, no hyped up stuff. Remember to double-check your sources.

We like to make sure on this forum that customers know what they are getting - Donald and Justin are doing just that. Eurocom isn't any better than anyone else.

No sweat Chaz... I appreciate your efforts however...

Your right... I'm sure Eurocom has it's warts just like every other company out there. I had heard nothing bad about PowerNotebooks in all this conversation, so I am not sure how they are protecting there reputation as a company. Besides people relating their personal experiences with Eurocom, the only intentional reputation damaging comments I have read were in the reply from Donald to my comments about having good experiences with Eurocom. He questioned my honesty, and commented on how smart the techs at Eurocom are. I know I am a new guy here, and "Paladin44" has been selling his wares here for a long time, but the hostility from him was obvious. Maybe I hit a nerve... I don't know. Welcome to the board indeed!

i think that you don't take an objective look at the subject, canadapcguy...
the fact that You haven't had bad experiences with eurocom doesnt mean others don't have bad experiences too...

They're essentially selling the same product. :) We've been getting a lot of repetitive questions lately and a lot of misconceptions arise from different company's descriptions of Clevo notebooks so everybody is a little on edge. Not to worry.

just going to throw my 3.50$ in here...today I took a drive up to the Eurocom store hoping to see display model of the M570RU there so that I can play with the keyboard but alas no such thing was there.

I did however meet a very nice gentleman, who should I be purchasing a Eurocom laptop from, either in person or via the internet, would be dealing with.

He said that the demo unit should be in next week, it was supposed to be here Monday, but of course it was delayed.

    Anyways thats my 3.50$

I bought my m570ru from Eurocom, see my signature... 5% student discount.
Got the basic one, figured it'd be cheaper to upgrade myself...
I've not seen any cheaper places yet.

I'm planning on buying a m570ru from Eurocom, and they have been good at responding to my e-mails quickly so far.

Also, in an e-mail they sent me (very quickly I might add :))-

Good news for people intereseted in possible upgrading to a better video card in half a year!

Any advice to me about what configuration to get? Or dealing with Eurocom (although they have been fine with me) ?

R/J Technologies also has the 8700M GT available. Not sure if that's been mentioned yet. They have 100% satisfactory customer service, and have AAA (maximum) rating on Better Business Bureau.
