    Hello,

I just received my brand new clevo M570RU. It didnt have windows pre-installed, that was a weird, and pain in the ass process witch can be read here. In short: the laptop blacked out then i was trying to install windows. Witch black out i mean, the screen suddenly turns black, the entire laptop instantly turns off, the only thing remaining are the battery charging lamps.

Now i think i have found out what caused this, its definately the CPU. When stressed in maya, rendering something, it suddenly blacks out, aswell when playing half life lost coast. When i use orthos to stress the CPU, and CPU-z to monitor it, i see orthos starting to stress, the CPU multiplier goes up to 11x, mhz increases to near 2200. And then: black out.

    Specs:
    CPU: T7500
    GPU: 8700GT m 512mb
    2048 mb ram 667
    5400RPM HDD
    Windows XP home SP2

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Snuur

yeah i forgot to check the temperature, ill run orthos again and see what the highest temperature is.

Oher detail, when i check device manager, it says that 1 device doesnt have the drivers installed, it says its an unknown device on location Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815 if that says anything to anyone, plz tell.

The temperature of the t750 idle (with firefox open) is:
    46 °C (115 °F)

Ill let orthos run now and see at what temp it blacks out.
it blacked out at 75°C dont know how many fahrenheit.

If you just got it....i would send it back NOW. dont take it apart to look at thermal paste and Heatsink....that might void the warrenty! Call and then Ship it back!

hm yeah ill check my warranty, i think i can open the laptop without voiding anything, maybe its just a quick solvable problem like no cooling paste, or no working cpu fan perhaps. I did discover something else. When i dont have it plugged it, so its on battery, it only steps 8x, and then i can fully stress cpu etc. No problem at all. When i plug it in and it is able to step to 11x it blacks out after about 20 sec stressing.

i have solved the problem :D the german idiots did forget to remove the plastic protective foil from the grey coolant block, causing it to overheat, it has become about 95 degrees celcius for about 12 times i guess. Now im stressing it for 9 minutes and it doesnt crash anymore, but does overheat to about 85 degrees celsius. Still not good, i hope new coolant paste will do the trick now.

yeah it would, but dont worry, i called the company and explained i was a tad experienced with computers an disassembling them (ie all the things you should watch out for, static electricity, scratching mainboard with screwdriver etc.). And he told me i wouldnt be voiding the warranty if i opened it up, but ofcourse would if because of this action i destroyed anything. No warranty seal was inside. It was quite easy, just simply turning a lot of screws, looking what label says CPU, get those screws out, the heat sink was pretty easy to lift up, i checked under it, and boom, nice plastic foil. I really reacted out loud like "OMG those people call themselves a laptop selling company?" but after some research it was probably the mistake of the assemblers in china. There was a lot of coolant spray on the plastic though, and i didnt have any, so gonna buy some tomorrow and hope that makes a lot of difference. When stressed fully i am satisfied if it gets to max 60 degrees.
