The M570RU-U (NP5793) has a third vent, on the bottom cover, for mounting a small fan directly underneath the CPU heatsink contact plate.

Anyone know where I can buy such a fan? What are its specs? Is it standard size?

Sticking a few ram sinks on the CPU contact plate, and temporarily mounting a cpu fan over them, gave a 10 deg C drop in TAT - so it looks like the third fan is worth the trouble.

I remember Justin saying somewhere in another thread that the setup for a third fan is done, but a third fan was not yet required.

If you really need, I`d suggest a notebook cooler, it`ll help more than a single cpu fan.

Thanks eleron. I am already using an effective cooler at home. I want to add the third fan because the 10 degrees degrees reduction I got can make a difference, in terms of noise, when I don't have a cooler around.

Not an big issue really, this new chassis works well in terms of cooling the CPU adequately. But if I could find the fan, it looks like a one-minute job to screw it on. The plug is already on the motherboard, labeled "case fan".

Well, just measure the size and pretty much that`s all it takes. Might have to consider that the battery life is going to drop and unless the mobo can control that fan, it won`t work. But since the setup is there,I guess you`re all set but the actual fan placed inside...
PM justin@xoticpc about this, he will surely know more.
