I'm trying to update the BIOS on my M570TU, since my current BIOS version is 1.00.02 and that's quite "old"... But the problem is that I have never updated BIOS on a laptop before... and now I'm stuck at a point in the BIOS upgrade.
I have already found the BIOS files I needed (hxxp://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/esupport/MarketDLOut.asp?model=M57xTU&go=GO&type=BIOS) and burned them on a DVD-RW with Nero. I created a Boot DVD on Nero, selected the "Floppy Emulation 1,44MB" and used the image file already provided by Nero ("DosBootimage.IMA"). Then I burned the DVD with the BIOS files included (57TU1611.zip, unzipped it first, of couse). I restarted the laptop, booted from the DVD, the Caldera-DOS BIOS started by itself and ended with: "DOS-Prompt (A:\>)".
Then I am supposed to write somthing, right? This is the point where I'm stuck. Anyhow, this is what I tried to do:
My DVD-ROM drive is located in the E:\ station, so I wrote "E:", but the problem is that I got an error message, saying that....hm... don't remeber the exact words, but it said somthing that the drive E: could not be found or something. What am I supposed to do? I have tried all the letters in the alphabet; A:, B:, C:, D: and so on, but it still doesn't work. Then I tried to run the program with the command "step1.bat" and "step2.bat" at a random station, but with no luck. Now I'm totally stuck and out of ideas... Do you guys have some good suggestions?

The mount points for your devices will be determined by the shell running from your boot disk. From the sounds of it, I'm going to say the A: drive is where your DVD is located.
Have you tried a "dir" command to list the files? -

@nthony is right, use the "dir" command to pull up the directory. Then run the .bat file.

I just tried the "dir" command and some files showed up, but I still could'nt find the BIOS installation files I burned to the DVD. Am I doing somthing wrong? I attched some pictures below. The two first are the files I burned on the DVD. The two last pictures is what came up when I wrote the "dir" command after restart. Why doesn't the folder I created for the BIOS update files show up? I have also tried to place the BIOS installation files directly on the DVD without a folder, but that didn't work either.

When I downloaded the latest Bios File from Clevo there are 3 files that needs to be on the bootable CD.

These are the only 3 files you need on your bootable CD. Your bios files need to be in the root directory or you need to go into the bios directory. Then all you need to do is start the update.bat file. -
I just tried to do it all over again:
I placed the 3 files you mentioned in the root directory in my DVD and burned it. Then I restarted my laptop and wrote "update.bat", then I got this message: "Command or filename not recognized".
I attched some pictures again, step by step of what I've done. The last picture is the message I got when I wrote "update.bat" after restart.Attached Files:

In your last screen shot update.bat is not listed in the directory. For some reason you are not getting the 3 required files into the root directory. The bios file is not there. When you do a "dir" command you should see the files I reported in the last post.

Yeah, I know, but somehow the files doesn't show up and I can't understand why. I've tried to burn the same files on an another laptop, in case there was somthing wrong with my M570TU, but I had no luck with that either. I have also tried to burn the boot upgrade files on a ordinary CD-R. Could there be somthing wrong with the setup in Nero? I've tried to follow this step-by-step instruction on how to create a bootable BIOS CD: http://bay-wolf.com/bootcd6.htm
So the setting should be closely alike the setting showed in that web-page. Anyone experienced some similar problems when trying to update your BIOS? -
use a bootable usb stick, much easier, quicker and more reliable.

It doesn't matter what medium you use as a boot drive. From what I'm getting from this thread, it is a matter of navigation and correct file placement. I use one bootable rewritable disc containing multiple files and directories for several different computers. All you need is "dir" and "cd" to peruse through the drive.

You may need to create the bootable image first, then edit the image (using IsoBuster, etc) to add the required BIOS files.
