Hi, I wanted to get my notebook to show on my TV, which has s-video, normal red yellow white, and component(red, blue and green)... It's not a flatscreen in the way it's not a plasma or a LCD, it's cathodic but anyway it's not the point of my thread.

I went on ebay, and ordered a HDMI to component wire ( HDMI male to red green blue and 2 for the sound) The cable is plugged in my notebook in the hdmi outlet to my tv and nothing appears in nvidia control panel, nothing on the tv.

Is it because normally there is some kind of feedback between the tv and the notebook ?
I mean that you can see in the notebook which type of tv you got and everything ? If it's the case, is it some way to force the notebook to output video and sound thru the port or i will need to get another adaptor like DVI

Well what should I do to get it working ?

    Thanks alot in advance

I do but I use hdmi to hdmi, not component sorry :/
When i hook it up to my tv it shows up as having 2 monitors.
You can try hooking upto your tv with your notebook off after that power on your tv and power on your laptop.
But you prolly already did that, not sure if you wouldve had more luck using dvi to component cable.

You do know that HDMI is purely digital, whereast component uses analogue signals?

The HDMI port sends out digital signals. They cannot somehow magically become analogue component signals throughout the length of the cable, unless you have some kind of "digital to analogue signal converter".

    Know what I'm saying?

You'd be better of with a DVI to HDMI converter.

I don't even know why they make these "HDMI to component" cables. It's completely pointless.
