I noticed my screen is the LP171WU1-TLB1 and Vista hasit as a "Generic" screen. I tried finding a driver on the web but couldn't locate one. Does anyone have some suggestions or ideas where I might be able to find the driver for this screen. My ultimate goal is to see if I can increase the refresh rate but the Generic screen won't let me.

LCD panels on notebooks do not have drivers.

You can make some modified drivers to force specific Refresh Rates... for BF people usually, no benefits other than that.

    "...for BF people ..."??

    What does BF mean?

I'd like a refresh rate of 75 up from the current max of 60.

Ideas on how to acomplish this?

LCD's are maxed at ~60Hz. Thats normal and fine.

You cannot get 75Hz on LCDs... its not needed.... or important

look at the response time and contrast ratio if you want to see more important LCD factors.

When I say "BF people", I mean Battlefield 2 & 2142 gamers.... which require that an refresh rate of 60Hz to play the games without issues.

    Ahhhh....now I get it...

Doesn't refresh rate have a part in FPS?

yes... in a way... because the refresh is the cap for framerate.

30-60FPS is usually what the industry shoots for.

as for games, getting around 30fps is already fluid, more than that is not that noticeable.

You wont find LCDs with high refresh rates because they are already standardized... not only for games, but for movies and production, which do not even use 60 frames per second yet.

In any case, its the response time that will help you get the best gaming experience... the lower the best.. less image tearing and ghosting.
