So I have had this problem for a while but it hasn't been too bad. The damage seems to have gotten quite large so I got motivated to get some help on it. I have looked in the past but I can't even get anyone who knows what kind of damage this actually is.

I'll try and answer some questions people have asked in the past.

The markings don't 'move' on the screen when touching the screen.
They are still there when the computer is turned off.
My notebook hasn't been exposed to any harsh or unusual conditions.
The picture is of the top right corner of the screen where it is worst. There is slight damage across the top and similar damage to the left side of the screen. No damage towards the bottom of the sides or the bottom in general.
The pixels aren't 'dead' and the markings aren't really noticeable when displaying darker colors. Watching movies for example they are barely noticeable. I used a white background so they are more visible for the picture.

The closest I have seen that is like this is monitors that are outright wet. This looks like it some how got wet but then dried leaving marks. The problem is that it has been slowly spreading over the months/years. I've had this problem in two different states with very different climate (michigan first and then southern california FYI)

I think air has entered between the LCD cells and the foil covering them... not sure if there is a fix.
You might need a new screen.
