Did anyone need to update their BIOS before their 570 could recognize a eSATA HDD (using the 'normal' connector at the back, rather than PCI)?
BIOS 1.00.09 is just not seeing it at all (maybe I'm not looking in the right place though), but freezes up for about 35 seconds on p.o.s.t. with the eSATA cable plugged in. Obviously then XP doesn't see the eSATA device either.
PS the HDD worked fine through eSATA under Vista with a later BIOS revision, but when I went back to XP, I also had to roll back the BIOS (BSOD on XP install due to ACPI errors). So most probably not a hardware issue.

Have you tried to change the settings in BIOS from Windows7/Vista to XP ?

Yes, it's set to XP, unfortunately.
I might just try updating the BIOS, but it's something I want to do as a last resort. On the previous attempt, I didn't backup my old BIOS and things nearly went very pear shaped. Hunting down old BIOS releases on the interwebs was not fun!
But I just can't believe that the standard BIOS did not support eSATA. That was one of the reasons people waited for the TU over the RU (and HDMI). If eSATA didn't work out of the box, I would have thought this would have become a hot topic on all the forums...
