I' ve got a Clevo m570tu notebook and have recently send it for RMA because of overheating problem. I had a new barebone, but in my surprise when I turned it on for first time, I noticed some graphics and audio issues. More specifically, It lags and sound does a trrr or something like that. This happens whenever sound is produced. I also get parasites most of the time. Headphones didn't make things better. I tried memtest86, all tests passed. Tried updating realtek driver, same thing. I should also notice that sometimes I get crashes when I play a game, install something or the computer is just idling. I have tried to keep each dimm of RAM alone in the sys already, but I get the same result. What else should I do to figure out the problem?
What I did was to remove the wi-fi module and install the old realtek drivers that came with the computer on 2008. This solved the suttering problem i had. Also, with the Powermizer Manager App, and Powermizer disabled, the BSODs on boot I used to get were disappeard
Special Thanx to:
Blacky for all this advice and 9800M GTX BIOSes.
Jupapri for the links.
brownstonemr for the powermizer app suggestion.

have you tried occt mem test and gpu test?
Download - OCCT Website english
if those test find errors, well is your gpu that is dying. -
It almost sounds like the chipset drivers or bios are causing issues... I know my old dell, after a format, was dirt slow and had no sound until I loaded the chipset drivers.

With OCCT Memtest I get 50000+ errors from the first minute. After idling for about 5 hours, it crashed and had to force shut it down. I ran OCCT again but now no errors. I aborted and started to watch a video, but the freezes and audio problem accures. After, I ran it again and still 50000 errors but without finishing the test it changes the number of errors from 52592 to 16026. Does this mean that I have a problem with the GPU-Memory?
-
That seems to be your main problem then. Try to do a DOS memtest. Try for instance memtest86+ (i think that I was the name for it).

I' ve already tried it several times with both sticks of RAM inside, and every dimm alone, no errors. I updated the bios to 1.09, EC 1.08 and it reduced suttering of audio and graphics, but it still accurs noticibly. I haven't updated any drivers yet, I've installed all the drivers of Sager site.
-
Latest BIOs is 0.19 and EC is 0.12 .

None the latest BIOS have positive result. I also tried disabling Powermizer but the audio is still cracking and video still lagging using Sager's 187 driver

try this driver
v197.31 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | Dell Mobile - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
remember to download the modded inf.
i that doesn't work, then download the 189.46 on sager site, those are for the m98nu/np9850

I found the cause of the audio problem. When I disable the wi-fi via device the DPC Latency doen't go past 1100us and with wi-fi I get 52000us! Maybe something's wrong with the windows 7 wlan driver.
-
You're not the only one to report this problem. There is a whole thread on it. I think the only solution is to either get a different wireless card or to disable powermizer. There is no other known fix that I am aware of.

The weird thing is that neither changing the powermizer nor using a usb wlan card would fix the problem. Now the only issue I' ll have is playing on-line games, while my router is far away from my system.

I made a mistake, the graphics and audio lags disappear using a usb wifi. But why is that and why didn't I get suttering before the RMA? However, it's difficult to have a usb wifi stick all the time with you, when the computer has already one inside!
-
You can try a different brand of wireless card and put it in. No one knows for sure what causes the stuttering. All we know is that it is related to the wireless card, video card and motherboard, but in what way - no one knows.

I bought an external levelone wi-fi stick small enough to be carried and fixed my problem. Now, withb the 197 nvidia drivers, I get a BSOD on boot randomly (I don't know when it will start or BSOD). But the weird thing is that when I boot my sys with battery, it boots fine. I'm not the only one to report this issue: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...drivers-released-post6075452.html#post6075452

False, nothing fixed since I bought the external wi-fi. The only hting I don't understand is that i didn't use to have this suttering problem before the last RMA. What happened? And Blacky can you please upload your vbios of the 9800m GTX you got. Maybe it is a GPU bios issue.

Try powermizermanager from PowerMizer Manager | Some More Bytes
I have a 9800m gtx (version 608) and with every 196 and 197 driver I get a BSOD when booting into windows. Like you booting on battery is fine. I installed this program and the problem goes away. After running it just make sure the 'create powermizer settings' is grayed out (installed) and all other options ('enable powermizer') are unchecked. Then it should work fine.
There is a new 256 driver out early next week so maybe that will have a fix. -
There are two types of vBIOS for the 9800M GTX:
The 0617 which is generally made for the D900C (there is also a 0617 vBIOS for the M570TU but I do not have it - emike used to have one if I recall correctly). The one that I have attached here is for the D900C and flashing it will make your HDMI port unusable. The 0617 offers slightly better performance than the 0608.
The 0608 is the standard vBIOS for most of the 9800M GTX cards used in the M570TU. I've also attached it here.
Good luck. As far as I know, your issue is hardware related. -
Thx for the info and links. I am probably gonna stick with my current bios since I do use the HDMI a fair bit.

Thank you for the bioses Blacky +rep. They didn't solve my problem. But what I got now is that when I disable the Realtek Audio from the Device manager, the spikes go away or at least they are not so high.

I solved the problem with the spikes a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I should do was to remove the internal wi-fi module and install the default old audio driver. This works with any nvidia drivers like a charm. Thanks for all the advice and help guys.
Moderators, you can now close this thread! Thank you. -
