I'm really excited about this machine. It's great! Really, it's everything I thought it would be AND MORE.
My first impression couldn't be better: the machine is beautiful and working flawlessly (credit goes to Kobalt for their excellent testing!). It has no dead pixels and the build quality is very good.
As far as noise goes, I couldn't be more satisfied: when simply typing in normal mode, the machine is practically inaudible. I'd call it a mild hush, but it's not even that.
The silent mode is a bit weird though: when I put it on, it's actually MORE audible than normal mode, although it's still not annoying.

If there is any test (battery, heat) I can do for you guys, feel free to ask :) I'll be making a review, but that'll take a while.

    Woohoo! :p

It’s always nice to see people post first impressions on the unit they just purchased, it always bring back those good memories of when we first got ours.
You seem very happy Tankbuster and I hope your notebook bring you many years of enjoyment! :)

The cooling on this beast is great!!
My CPU (P8600) idle temperature is around 30° and under load it never reached 50°! And now that I undervolted it, it never goes above 42°. That's ridiculously low!
The GPU stays at 45° idle.

My only 'worry' is the HDD. It varies from 51-55°... Isn't this rather high?

    Wheres Mine?? :(
(scrap that i know where it is really...)

They had memory compatability issues. Aparently the OCZ memory doesn't like the M570TU. I was told they are having trouble getting the large amounts of RAM needed for all their orders (They're now ordering from crucial) Thus the delays. I was supposed to get mine on saturday, but now hopefully it'll be tuesday.

Yeah, I had the same problem Surfinite...

Anyway, there seems to be something wrong. I just did 3dMark06 and my score was 4822. That seems kinda low for a 9800M GT...
I tried upgrading to the 177.92 or 177.97 drivers, but it doesn't work ("there are no drivers compatible with your current hardware")
The Vista Experience Index is fine though, the graphical scores there are 5.0.

    Am I missing something here?

Did you have it on silent mode when you ran 3DMark? That will give you a score around 4000, and so would running it not plugged into the mains. Also try restarting the system (if you haven't already) as 3DMark06 won't give you a decent score if you run it straight after installation.

    I figured it out :)
Apparently, there is a small bug in my BIOS; when it says "Normal Mode" in the top left of the screen, it is actually running Silent Mode, and vice versa.
At first I thought the silent mode was buggy because it was noisier than normal mode, but it's simply because it was backwards!

My 3dmark06 score is 8944 with stock drivers now. That's more like it :)
