I see that the M570TU uses an esata drive for the optical bay.
I was looking at the UJ-210, UJ-220 BD burner drives but both
are ide. Who makes a BD burner that is sata?

ESata is the port from which you can connect an external hard drive for faster speed. The Cd/dvd drive uses SATA.

    Yes, this much I knew.

What company makes BD (Blueray Disc) burners that will fit the M570TU?

Sager uses a Panasonic Blue ray burner (I think it's model UJ-220)

why do you need a blue ray burner when you can buy a backup drive?

    Not "need", more accurately, WANT!

Even with a 1TB eSata drive, I prefer making Acronis backups
and without a seperate dedicated 2nd internal HDD, a BD burner is the solution for me.
