Has anyone experimented with using a Bluetooth driver other than the one from BlueSoleil? I'm assuming that there are drivers from other OEM out there (e.g. Widcomm) that will work with the chipset used by the M570U's Bluetooth adapter, maybe that's an incorrect assumption.
I just purchased a Bluetooth optical mouse (Logitech v270). I installed the Logitech SetPoint software, however, it is not compatible with the BlueSoleil driver. The BlueSoleil software actually finds the mouse just fine, but I've noticed the mouse cursor's movement is a little erratic, kind of like a mouse that has drank too much coffee.I guess I could adjust the mouse properties to compensate, but then that would impact the touch pad's behavior as well.
So far my experience with the BlueSoleil driver has been pretty good. It interacts quite nicely with my cell phone. However, if there is a driver that has a broader device compatibility set (for example, Logitech), I would have no compunction in making the switch.
What are people's thoughts on this topic, is BlueSoleil the way to go? Are there better Bluetooth options out there?
Thanks,
-skel
BTW, The driver would support XP 32-bit, in case there's any confusion about what platform I'm referring to.![]()

So you tried this already?

Hey Gophn, thanks for the reply. Is that an archive of the latest BlueSoleil driver? I'm fairly certain that I have the latest BS driver installed. Incidentally, the recency of the BlueSoleil driver shouldn't impact my Logitech mouse incompatibility issue. Logitech states in their documentation that the SetPoint software will only work in tandem with Widcomm or Microsoft Bluetooth drivers. I was mainly interested if other M570U owners had ported to a different BT driver (Widcomm in particular) and what their experiences were.

what i don't get is i didn't even have to install the bluesoleil driver from the disc. windows vista automatically found the driver i guess? through the windows update.
do i need bluesoleil? -
the vista driver is a general bluetooth driver. the bluesoliel thing is a driver but it also contains software for doing things like tethering you cell phone over the internet etc.. its more of a "package" that way. no you dont need it but if you want to take advantage of some of the extra things it gives you you would need that instead of the built in vista one. imo i HATE bluesoliel software i have it on my wife's system because its easy to use but it causes all kinds of conflicts all the time

Hey there.
I use BS all the time (bought the full package at an upgrade price). No drivers will support the full mouse fonctionnalities because I think it's managed by the BT stack. For example, for my MS mice (BT 8000 serie) to work, I must plug in their BT adapter; if going trough internal BT, the mice are seen like standard BT mice and only the basics worl (though my wireless mouse presenter under keys are all working).
So I don't think it's about the drivers. It's about how the bluetooth protocol is handled.
Be aware that BT bandwith is limited. You can't use A2DP with a mouse or the mouse or music will stutter. Heck, even BT syncing my Palm caused stutters to my mouse.
If the mouse is the only thing you are using, then check range/batteries.
I know the BS are sometimes weak, but unfortynately they're the best things I found. My main problem was getting decent audio to my BT headphone... But it wasn't related to the drivers, but rather a codec situation. -
Yeah the standard drivers doesn't support all the stacks also. XP SP2 still doesn't have A2DP...
