    Anyone done this?

How on earth do i get the old memory out? Looks like its blocked by a silver heatsink.

    Any guides about?

    Thanks.

    Hi thanks,

Just figured it out. Was going to give up and just put the 2gb in with the other 2gb (which is a shame, thought it would be 2x1gb so really only needed another 2 instead of 4gb, but it only cost £30 direct form crucial anyway, so cannot complain too much) then realised the angle trick, which is quite good.

    Anyway it in and working.

    Thanks.

Just FYI, the specs for the M570ru are wrong, as for memory, seeing as how it has the PM965 chipset, it can handle up to 8GB ram which is what I have in my Sager 5793 as I use a lot of memory intensive programs.

It can also handle at least a 320GB disk drive and with the right adapters like a DVI-HDMI and an external eSATA one then it can stay future-proof for a long time to come. If you want a faster CPU, just get an X9000 and BIOS OC it to 3.2Ghz.

I think the 5793 and the variants are really great notebooks for the price.

If you look at later Intel specifications for the PM965 chipset, you'll find they specify that the chipset will take up to 8GB of ram running at PC5300.

I have 4096x2 G.SKILL DDRII ram sticks in my 5793 as I upgraded from the 4GB I first had when I ordered it from Sager. I use memory intensive programs so the memory increase really helps in my case. Of course, to use all 8GB of memory, you will need a 64 bit OS and a 64 bit CPU.
