the M570TU is scheduled to have the 9800M GTX... as for mobile quad-core, cannot confirm until they are available to test.

The quads will probably be available , but they will cost roughly 1000$ and that is just ridiculous.

Intel has not announced any confirmed launch date for Mobile Quads...so until they launch and can be tested we simply won't know IF or WHEN they would be available.

So... its known that the 570 will have 9800gtx... but no news on the release of it? I'm hoping that it will be available right from the start.... but there hasn't even been a peep from Nvidia....

lol, well its always the "wrong" time to buy a computer as better stuff are always in the horizon.

But seriously, if PCMW, who said that the edge should be released next week or so, thinks that the 9800gtx is coming out in late august, we're probably going to see a late December release or something....
As for the equation.... its probable that the 9800 will be released and implemented long after the initial launch. But I'm hoping that you're right and it doesn't come as released.... july is coming... more news should be revealed soon.

Sigh... this is really getting on my nerves. I really want a lappy before school starts....

    *ponders*

I wonder if I can get a TU Mobo, install it in my RU, mod the chassis to make sweet sweet love with the HDMI port.... mmmm I'd love an HDMI port.

Not to mention faster RAM, more processor options, etc.

The only cost would be the mobo... well, and the ram. However, this way offers me a few advantages:

    1) I love getting my dremel involved with my PC's.
    2) I hate warranties. "Peace of Mind" is for sissies; upgrade, overclock, mod!!!
    3) It's a fun project
    4) I don't go without my baby for more than a day or two

    =)

Well, I'm going on the assumption that my t9300 and 8800M gtx will both run in it. That's part of the cunning plan: I'm extremely happy with the performance of both, and don't see a reason to upgrade now. However, this garauntees compatibility with newer processors and at least a 9800m gtx should that turn out to be a worthwhile upgrade (which, to be honest, I don't think it will be).

Basically, it allows me to upgrade piecemeal over time rather than all at once.

I've thought about it, actually, but I'm terrified of the notion of coolant sloshing about inside my notebook. It gets packed around with me *everywhere*.

I was seriously considering ripping out the DVD drive (I can use an external one for the *rare* time I actually have cause to use DVD's) and using the space to set it up.

Edit: Looking at the new Penryn's for Montevina, P9500, 2.53ghz, 25W, 6mb cache, 1066FSB? Oh, hell yeah. Same clock speed as my T9300, but cooler, lower power consumption. I wonder how far you could OC/UV that?

Didn't Toshiba make one too? I've never actually seen watercooled notebook, but I've heard of them. You'd still need a fan, I imagine, as you can't have an external radiator. Much more efficient cooling, though, regardless.

I just checked out the Hitachi notebook. It uses a thin radiator/tank build into the back of the LCD. You'd have to add bulk to the notebook to do that, as you'd definately want it separate from the display, but if you went with a thin, stylishly ribbed design you could say it was a cosmetic mod =)

Otherwise, it's a pretty simple system. Not sure how you'd pipe coolant from and to the display-mounted radiator, though, outside of external hoses at the back.

It WOULD be very cool to have a nice, cool notebook though.

Well, if you were pilfering the parts, you'd just need to custom make/have made the tank/radiator. A stripped out DVD drive and existing cooling system provides plenty of space and available power to run a small pump; and that leaves you with Creative Hardware Mounting 101 - not that big of a deal, really.

It's the magic of stealing the hard work of other people's R&D and adapting it.

That said, yeah, I'll prolly never go water cooled - at least, not on this notebook - simply because it's largely unnecessary. Heat really isn't a problem thanks to these sexy penryns.

Mounting a 570tu mobo though? Yeah, I'll almost certainly do that, unless someone pops up who offers me decent cash for this one... in which case I may go with the next model of the D901C when it works its way around.

    More room to tinker!

This seems an opportune time to ask: Got any pointers about "attacking" a notebook case with a dremel? I'm almost to the point of getting a replacement notebook, and as soon as I do and am satisfied that it's stable, this ^))&*^ little vaio is going to go under the knife for some much-needed customization (first thing off is creation/installation of a quick access panel for the hdd - I am sick and tired of having to dismantle the whole thing just to get at the hdd that's wedged into the bottom corner of the left palm rest).

Only the normal dremel stuff: It cuts with velocity, not pressure, so crank it up nice and fast and let the speed do the cutting. Cut a bit, let it cool - melting plastic is bad. Dremel bits are easy to find in hardware stores, you can usually get plastic specific cutting wheels, and fine sanding drums are great for smoothing things out afterwards.

You'll want small angly files to get into nooks and crannies for finishing shaping, unless you're much neater with a dremel than me :) I do the rough cuts and sanding, then finish off with a file and smooth sandpaper.

It's a lot of fun, really, particularly if you're not overly concerned about oops's.

Oh. It's REALLY best to totally strip the notebook before you start cutting. Dremels go through PCB's, chips, and other electronic components like butter =)

Mine has no problem whatsoever with plastic - I've used it on a number of plastic PC cases.

I've never tried it on Fibreglass, but I've cut particle board - but only thin particle board. Dremels generally don't go through thick stuff well at all. They're just little =)

Threads are fun that way. We're just passing time till we actually have more hard info about the TU :)

1/2" particle board? Ugh, that wouldn't be a lot of fun >.<

Even at 1/4" I'd really, really hesitate to try to cut it with a dremel.
