    Hi Experts!

Could anyone help me out with a backed up cmos settings file? The integrated sound card on my Clevo M57U does not show up at all and I am wondering if it somehow got disabled in the BIOS...

The utility is called symcmos and is available here:
    ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/utility/Phoenix_bios_utility

The command to run from DOS is:

    symcmos -v2 -lcmos.sav

I would really appreciate if someone would do this and send me the saved cmos.sav file. I tried to contact the company I bought the motherboard from and they would want to charge me >£200 for fixing it (the motherboard is less than a month old and it has never worked)...

    Thanks a bunch!

    Robbie

Anyone? I would really appreciate it! It does not do any harm to your computer and the cmos does not have any personal information either. I need a volunteer, please

Users with Sager 5760 notebooks are also welcome

Could I please at least have an 'lspci -n' output from anyone using Linux? It lists all the PCI devices in the system. Can also be done by booting up a live linux cd.
Or if that's not too much of a trouble a full dmesg output would also be fine. it really could make my day!

    Thanks in advance!

BTW I managed to turn on the sound codec on the motherboard by enabling bios token 0x198 in the NVRAM but it is not completely brought up. Alsa cannot initialize the device. Hence the request for those outputs...

EDIT: sorry about the typo.. it's token no. 0x198

    hi robbie,

    what is your bios revision?

1.00.06 should be the latest for systems with Elantech touchpad and 1.01.06 for systems with Synaptics touchpad the latest H8 keyboard controller version is 1.00.06.

Maybe an update or reflash will override the wrong settings?

    Hi Prema,

Long time no see! I've tried to re-flash everything I could possibly think of. I've tried to flash all previous bios versions as well as H8 versions,
even though it's only version 1.00.06 that supports that (ALC888/883) sound codec.
BTW in the process I found a way to turn H8 debug mode on. You can monitor a bunch of internal registers of the H8 chip. Hold any of the extra buttons (Mail/Browser/App) while turning the power on. The audio console now should show some extra info. These are the contents of the registers. There are 0x4b regs and you can switch amongst them by pressing Fn-F1 (Up) or Fn-F2 (Down). Also managed to find meaning for a couple of those. I will post them later if anyone is interested...

    Later!

    0x29:
bit5 - screen brightness keypress delay
    bit4 - camera keypress delay
    bit1 - usb camera enabled
    0x2b: screen brightness between 03-07
