I bought the laptop off a friend with no hdd, fitted a 250gb WD hdd and got it all setup, but ive run into a brick wall

everytime I install the latest nvidia drivers (197.16) it BSODs everytime i boot, and if I boot into windows safemode, delete the drivers and then boot into normal windows it will install its own drivers, and then BSODs!

I really need some help, the m57ru guide said to install 169.xx drivers, and ive tried but unfortuneatly it says that it cant find any hardware devices that match the driver

OS is win vista 64bit ultimate
    4gb PC2-6400
    WD 250gb hdd
    8800m
    2.6ghz core2duo (t9500 I think)

edit, just got a set of 169.99 drivers to install and it bluescreens on nvlddkm.sys error :(

    HELLLPPPP ME PLEAAASEEEE

I had exactly the same problem with those drivers. get the 187.82 from laptopvideo2go (official clevo drivers, no modded inf required). They work great for me.

No probs, glad I could help. I guess that 197.16 just doesn't like the 8800M GTX...

you have to mod the .inf and add your id strings to the driver. it worked for me

The driver has the right strings in it and installs fine, it just bluescreens on reboot with the 8800M GTX ;)

Sorry about reviving an old thread AND for the noob questions.

I have an new Clevo M570RU with 8800M GTX. My VBIOS is 62.92.23.00.14.

I want to flash to 600/1500/950.

In Device Manager, NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX Properties, Driver tab, I show Driver Version: 8.17.12.5896. I don't see a character string of xxx.yy. Is there a better driver?

In NVIDIA Control Panel, Help, About, I see Version 3.3.532.01. I did update to the driver dated 7/09/2010 (ver 258.96, I think). Should go back to 187.82?

What do I need to learn about these drivers?
