My card now downclocks when it is supposed to. Before it would never leave the "Throtl" settings.

Well, I havent got any screenshots with the DC, but as ive written before, earlier it would stick with the first performance level, meaning 275/550/301 mhz clockspeeds.

Mine is running as intented after biosupdate, DC'ing to 2d speeds while on desktop, also, it seems that it will DC to a lower setting (383/767/301 mhz), if not all the power of the GPU is needed. So the bios update defently helped out with managing the right performance level.

Glad to see it worked for you as well Mez. I beleive nVidia got it right with these 175.63+ drivers.

Yea, you too mate :) Finally we are able to enjoy this notebook fully :p

Well, there defently must have been something with the bios aswell, as it was not until I had it updated it would work :)

So there is no way around a bios update, if newer drivers are needed it seems.

    For me,

    system bios - 1.00.08
    Drivers - XTreme-G 175.63 (from Tweakforce) - like these a lot

You may want to check your vbios clocks. It might just be set to run full speed most of the time.

no, I know that the vbios is set with lower clocks for the thrtl and other settings, I only changed the "Extra" clocks

Also what vBIOS are you running (GPUZ will tell you this)

Im running with the following combination:
    BIOS: .08
    VBIOS: .14
    Drivers: 175.75 from lv2g

About VBIOS, that can be looked up under nVidia Controlpanel aswell :) In the buttom there is a system information button, under which you can find your VBIOS aswell :)

    true m3z3ias...

The interesting thing is that I am running the same as you guys (pretty much). .08 sBIOS, .14 vBIOS (with upped extra clocks) and 175.80 lv2g and mine never d/c's...

OK, just checked... it does d/c on battery, just not on idle while powered

It could be registry and/or INF related.

In the start I TBH thought the DC'ing was caused by something in the .inf, as even thoes with .08 bios had DC'ing. But after several tries, also trying to use the .inf from stock drivers modded to newer ones, with everything ending up with DC'ing or completly messing it up, having to use systemrecovery to get it back to full speeds. All that have led me to conclude that its not just .inf related. Tho I must admit that I havent fooled around with the registry much.

Tho the problem theriko got, might be related to something in the .inf or registry, or maybe its just to sensitive about bios/vbios settings ?

theriko have you tried a "clean" vbios with no OC adds?? If so, does that DC as its supposed to or is it the same? Also drivers, is it the same with other drivers aswell, including stock ones? If it does the same with stock drivers, I would suspect that its something deeper than registry/.inf :/

Have you maybe been editing in the powermizer settings in your registry?

I have made no registry changes, I will play about with the 3 different stock vbioses when I have time and post back the results

Was having the DC problem but just updated to the .08 bios (vbios is .14 version).

After the bios update I've had no problems with down clocking (updated drivers from 167.43 (stock) to 174.90 (sager website). Haven't tried any other drivers, modified or otherwise).

This is on an NP5792 that came with the .07 bios.
