From today, configuring the Guru FIRE (based on Clevo M860) in this Notebookguru page, you can choose to upgrade it with the fastest Nvidia single graphic card.

The cost is 200Euro more than the GTX260M. My question is: does it worth it?? Or it's better to buy a GTX280M with other (cheaper) ways??

    Is it worth it?

200€ for 10-15%.... you tell me.

    Protip: not worth 100€

I thought the same...I'd rather spent such money for the new W860 with i7 (I need CPU power)...

I had to look at Urban Dictionary to understand what "Protip" means

    No offense intended.

EU-based you say? Mmm, looks like notebookguru knocked a few walls down and did a complete decor job. Actually looks decent now. Preety cheap too. Will keep my eye on this to be sure.

    Kudos RavenCat.

You'll be happy to know that most times the 280M handles quite well in this machine... ...untll you take the mains out and plug the battery in. :D

I don't personally - what's the point in spending £300 on voiding the warranty of a machine you know you'll be selling off soon. However there are quite a few people on the board who have. 5482741 and H-Emmanuel have them. You should also check out this topic.

As for the battery problem - if you read various links such as the above one, it concludes with the findings that the battery isn't powerful enough to manage both the quad and the 280M. When you game on battery with this config, it normally closes the computer down.

If you order from Guru the first thing after arrival is to check the CPU if it´s OEM or ES....

I read somewhere about Notebookguru giving ES CPU...

What's the problem about having ES CPU?? They should be as stable as the OEM version and cheaper...

Yes it´s stable and cheaper. But people paid for OEM, if received a ES then equals lost $$$.

    Highly illegal, at that.

If Intel wanted to, they could wrap them up with lawsuits until they bleed their money....

Now I understand how they can sell cheaper notebook than other resellers :)...maybe if I'll notice it, I'll ask for a free second battery or one more year of warranty instead of an OEM CPU ;)

Another guy just received a NB by notebookguru and didn't have any problem with fake ES CPU or fake 260M :)...
