The Q9000 should have no problem overclocking to 2.2GHz through SetFSB. You won't actually need 1333MHz RAM, 1066MHz should be able to overclock just fine. However, 1333MHz is guaranteed to work at frequencies above 1066MHz (up to 1333MHz of course), while 1066MHz isn't.
-
they got the q9000 up to 2.7-2.85 in the W90p
-
The W90p was one huge headache for a lot of people, way to many bugs way to many issues. -
Just one last question regarding RAM, which brand is the best? There are only 4 brands that newegg sell, and may I add very cheap too. Here is the link to the search results.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Description=4gb ddr3 1333&name=Laptop Memory
And will these work with the m860etu? -
i know this is a stupid question but how is the battery life using the q9200 and qx9300, do any of y'all get more than a hour
-
-
1333Mhz is only a couple of bucks more. -
-
But there's basically NO OCing in the M860TU. You either get a worthless 200MHz, a downclock, or a hard system lock, plus it prevents you from overclocking the GPU. The 1333MHz has worse latency anyway, so you're buying slower memory with nothing to gain from it.
-
The 1333MHz ram has worse latencies at 1333MHz. At 1066 it will have the same latencies as native 1066MHz ram

Anybody ever have any problems after installing a QX9300 of any kind besides extreme happiness?
-
humm im still not sold on quads i really do think a T9900 at 3.06 would outperform any stock clocked quad in every thing even GTA4.. with a solid GPU overclock.. and lets face it with the future of this notebook u will want thermal and fsb space to upgrade the GPU not the CPU (if 3.06 and 2.5 are the max speeds for the rest of time)
unless some one can show me 2.5 quad vs 3.06 duel in GTA4 being seginificanty in the quads favor.
Quadcore is already forgoten "lost tech" with i7... its like teh Sli of CPu... not a jump up.
but yer do want convincing benchmarks some quadfanboi prove me wrong! im in no rush i supose... i prob wont pick up a T9900 untill a GPU upgrade is a option at the same time... (yer i know its strange but im sentimental about motherboards ^_^ ) -
Lets see some numbers?????
Or are you just talking out of your arse! -
im stuck on a M860TU with a 2.4 duel and 9800m GT
but i may be getting warrenty soon and im trying to decide T9900 or Q9200 ES/ QX9300 for a M860ETU revision if i get one..
just looking at desktop benchmarks alone i can see the 3.06 processors currently having the edge with out even factoring in GPU clocking space.
im just not sure if the QX9300 and T9900 will be the last processors we will see that will work in these laptops. Whats your opinion on that?
How long will this BEST QUAD and BEST DUAL option last for? i would rather tweak out my sistem at the end of a progression than the middle/late end -
With the new Cappella CPU's coming out the QX9300 and T9900 will still be great CPU's. Honestly you can't go wrong either way.
Quad/Duo are both very good it really depends on everyones individual needs.
Will the T9900 be viable for a long time?Sure thing
Will the QX9300 be the best mobile Quad? Most likely for a while.
For me Quad's are the way to go of course everyone has there own opinion on the whole QUAD/DUO debate. For me anyway. -
Why ask about the QX9300? -
Since I'm already @ 2.93Ghz, I'm going to hold out for one more quad refresh.
-
I've considered waiting till the W860CU too but the bigger screen size doesn't cut it. The whole point was to have of this machine with a top range GPU at smallest size, managable size possible.
Buy the W860CU knowing there are smaller laptops running quads (even if not quite as powerful) and 260M/280Ms in smaller, more manouvrable notebooks?
Besides, the idea of replacing a quite new bag because the laptop no longer fits would be annoying. -
-
you missed that many post? -
Another one for the M860TU... -
Just wanted something smaller but still powerful, this was the only logical choice.
Everything still running good for your laptop?
What did you use to undervolt? -

There are times when I dream of SLI dreams and quad desktop processors--

The Intel road maps pretty much confirm the EOL for Core 2 mobile parts.
The Quads, as of now, still run pretty hot and heavy and 3.06ghz was the limit for the dual core extreme and the T9900.
But hey, you never know. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
$50 Paypal'ed says there will be no refresh.
-
So Shirley says the QAVK Q9100 is E0 stepping. I've always believed all E0 CPUs to have temp sensors, but I'm also told that the QAVK is lacking this feature.
Which is incorrect? -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
That is correct. Q9100 QAVK does not have temperature sensors despite being E0.
M860ETU and BEST QUAD option for it.
