    Hi all,

I am hoping I can find someone who can help me with my broken lappy. Last week, my beloved NP8662 started to make some buzzing sound when I closed the Lid. Shortly after, the screen displayed vertical lines (see pics attached)

I thought my video card died but when I attached it to my TV, it worked without any problems.

I disassembled my LCD and reattached back the cables that connect the Motherboard,Inverter board and LCD display. Still without luck.

What do you guys think? Do I need new cables? New inverter board? New lcd screen?

Thanks and have a happy xmas to you all!

    hi
that does look similar to the start of the end of a gpu but if it still works on an external then you might just be lucky.
what graphics card have you got in it? if its the 9800GT then youve been very lucky as theres hundreds that have died including mine.

i know the large ribbon cable can get warn with the opening and closing of the lid but its pointless in buying another one just in case its not that.

hopefully someone with better knowledge will be able to advise better.

My setup is a Q9100 oem + GTX 260m. Temps are fine ~ mid 40's idle and high 70's under load.

I was able to play games with the external projector and had no crashes at all.

My first instinct was to say it is the GPU as well. But if you are able to play games with reasonable temps, it doesn't seem like it's the GPU.
