Hi there, thank you in advance for taking your time reading this.

    I have a Clevo M860TU with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, running Windows 7 64bit.

I'm trying to work with an external monitor, a YAMAKASI CATLEAP 27" LED 2560x1440.

However, this monitor has no scaling capability and the maximum resolution of my video card is 2048x1536.

I've been told in another message board, that my card's video memory is not enough to reach 2560x1440.

In that sense, I thought of increasing the shared video memory. However, there is no such option in my BIOS.

I think my BIOS version is 1.02.16 and, after reading the BIOS thread for older models, I know that I can update it to 1.02.17.

Still, updating the BIOS is a somewhat troublesome process. So, I have two questions:
    - is there any other way I can increase my shared video memory?
    - and if there is not, will the BIOS update allow me to increase the shared video memory?

I would really appreciate some help here!

You arent able to increase the video RAM. Thats typically only possible with a integrated graphics card, when you have a dedicated one like you do you can only have what the card has built into it.
However I dont think this is a video card RAM problem. Are you using DVI, HDMI, VGA to connect to your screen? What issues are you running into? Do you get any picture at all, can you try that same port on another monitor to see if it works.

    Thank for your answer.

I'm using a Dual DVI cable to connect with the monitor. The monitor was already tested and worked just fine with another computer, but with the same cable.

With my laptop, the monitor is detected, but it is not working -- I get a black screen and a blinking blue led (that turns red occasionally).

However, when I was messing with the custom resolutions on the NVIDIA Control Panel, the external monitor actually showed a frame (just one frame) of my desktop, and then it went back to the black screen. This happened twice, under some specific circumstances.

ive never used a dvi cable so cant advise on that but its strange you got one frame show up.

you did try the Fn + F7 shortcut didnt you to switch to external display.
