    Conratulations! :D
Personaly I have never even heard of this Quad CPU, you have to post some benchmarks, comparing the old with the new.
Are you running it on a laptop cooler? Those temps look great!
    Can you OC it?

New machine? As in the NP8662's mobo which is revised for QC support?

BTW, I've seen the pictures and noticed that your BIOS version is 1.02.15, any chance of a download? I'm currently on 1.02.14

I'm pretty sure that's an esata drive, not a smartbay

It's an ES Q9200, hence the unlocked multi

here is the 1.02.15 bios along with the 1.00.12 KBC/EC

    server 1
    server 2

Run step1.bat then step2.bat in that order

Actually, it is a custom-made smartbay. I found his thread about the smartbay, he bought it in China.

Btw, what is Intel ES Q9200?
Never heard of that one before. The "ES" i mean.

Engineering Sample, means it's prerelease and has unlocked multipliers

    1. System BIOS 1.02.15 and EC 1.00.12.
    2. Solve T6400 CPU incompatibility issue.
    3. Please update firmware in pure DOS mode.
    4. Run step1.bat to update EC firmware, run step2.bat to update system BIOS.

It´s a custom made Smartbay. :D Ill post pics when come back.

CPU ist still ES version, can´t find a QS...... :( But Price is much better than QX9300QS, with only 133MHz slower, maybe also unlocked multi.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that the M860TU does not have multiplier control in the bios, so you cannot overclock that way :(

Actually it´s a fake SATA smartbay for Lenovo T400/W500 series. I modded the Benzel and replaced it with the M86 one. Even for Hitachi 5K500 with 12.5mm height is no problem.

Wow. Very nice, I had never even thought to ask if that was possible!

Any chance you can do a mini-writeup on it? With part numbers/links and how much custom work you needed to do on the bezel?

Also any heat issues with the drive in that bay?

Still no cooler, but planning to get one. Anyone tried Enermax Aeolus CP001G-B ?

The bay comes with a normal benzel, must saw a lot and bore 2 holes to fix the original one. No heat problem in the bay, there is still much room left and havn´t seen temp over 40°C.

Tests under room temp 21°C. All except 3dmark are done without a cooler. Bacause 98MGTX is too hot for M86 and always downclock when running 3dMark, must remove the backplate and put a 12CM fan under it......Chassis is the original one, only changed the new MB and a WUXGA matt LCD.

Well i found it in asia, price is really good compare to QX9300. :D I think the temp sensors are still not recognized, it´s still ES not QS.

The lowest VID from Rmclock is 1.1625V.

Finally got a Notebook cooler and it runs much cooler than before. Now i can OC the 98MGTX to 260M level with 550/1375/950 and Max temp i got is 87°C.

The CPU is hardware undervolted to 1.0625V and GPU to 0.95V. With 0.95V it can get 550/1375/950 stable, not bad i think. :D

It´s still a ES, so every VID is the same. And Rmclock reads the same temp like CPUZ, which i think is not correct. Try Core temp and Everest, that´s should be the real VID.

I'm kind of surpised though, you should be having higher scores or I'm the one with incredibly high scores because I score more than 11 800 3DMark06 on mine with a 9800m GT and T9900.

So if his is more powerful with stock hardware, why would you spend a great deal of time / $$$ on something inferior (or at least score wise)? Unless the point is just to prove you can do it.

I totally respect what you do, it's awesome; but outside of proving that the 9800m GTX could in theory run in that laptop, there would be no point of having such card in that laptop if you had to undervolt it and underclock it to the point that it performed slower than a well overclocked 9800m GT. What you would need in that case is a 9800m GTX on a smaller architecture, which is the 55nm GTX260m which should run cooler. I was tempted of trying a GTX280m in my M860TU but seeing your thread confirmed to me what I always thought, it's best to overclock a 9800m GT or GTX260m like crazy and still be able to play without a cooling reactor under the laptop than having to purchase a card that won't run at it's full potential and potentially slower.

A couple questions for you kaltmond:

Does the Q9200 support Virtualization? The Q9100 doesn't, and it's required to use XP mode once the retail Windows 7 comes out.

Is it, QX, or just Q?
