I know some of our beloved forum members have managed to fit core 2 quads and th 280M to obtain amazing performance gains with 860tu.

The slight issue was with clevo's battery that did not like the high power draw so the laptop was resetting when a game was run on batteries.

Not that I would like to game on battery but having a sudden reset on a small peek in some new game that I just got and don't have the power plugged in is something I wouldn't like.

What I haven't found out is if this also happens with a core2duo like my T9900?

How about the temps? my room is usually @ 22-23 C, would I need a nice cooler?
    My 260M usually has 43 C and 70 C max when gaming.

Looking forward to hear anyone's experience

    Thanks :D

You should be fine with a T9900 and a GTX 280M combo. the T9900 uses less power than a quad and will produce less heat.

But how about the heat and power draw from 280M?

As long as you don't overclock the card too much, the heat and power draw from the GTX 280M paired with the T9900 will be within acceptable levels.

And as far as I know the etu has MXM 2.1, is there any chance to see a 2.1 "geforce 380"?

How about compatibility MXM 3 on 2.1?

Is 280M the end of 2.1?

Forecast?: Chances of a v2.1 MXM GT300 series card are very small as NVidia are pushing forward the 3.0b format.

Will also stand by previous comments - the T9900 and 280M will work like a charm in this machine. In fact for next several months, it will possible be the most powerful combo you can get in a 15" for gaming. Or @ least until multi-threading is taken advantage of by the majority of programmers.

There will be no MXM 2.1 GT200 cards. The GTX 280M is the last card you will see in MXM 2.1, so drop all hopes you have for a GPU upgrade path on this machine.

MXM 3.0 is not backwards compatible with MXM 2.1 sockets. To put it this way, the connectors are physically different.
