I recently purchased a M860etu and was had a temp problem. In furmark the temps will get over 103C (at which point I stopped it). Ive reseated the heatsink a half dozen times, used arctic silver, and done everything I can think of. The only thing I notice is the heatsink doesnt get a good connection with the die, usually only getting a corner of it even when screwed down as tight as it will let me.

    Any ideas?

That's weird, M860TU don't have many CPU or GPU heat issues.

Have you contacted your vendor? I think you should first, then if that doesn't help, come back for more possibilities.

Could it be fahrenheit as opposed to Celsius?

I don't think he's that stupid. Furmark is going to push his GPU way higher than 40*C.

I guess you have a gtx 260M? 103c is pretty high.. Mine got to about 79c max after playing l4d for like 2hours. Maybe contact whoever you got it from, and see with them.
