I dont know whether it is just me or is the HDD in the M860TU extremely difficult to remove. I know it must be possibly because it must have been put there to start with but I have spent about 15 minutes trying to no avail. Basically it seems like there is something obstructing it so it cant move back as far as it needs to so you can lift it out without breaking the sata connector off.... can anyone help?

    Heya Henry, longtime no hear,

Haha, yeah I remember this fooling me at first too.

(With the back fan at the top, DVD drive to your right) - Alright taking it that the small plate on the top of the HDD (near the SATA connector) has been taken off, there's the black connector (SATA) connecting to the MB at the bottom. This should slid out (upwards) with a little effort. Trust me, it doesn't look like two components as one but it is. Obviously, watch out for the HDD when you do this as it will move up towards you too.

Would this help in illustrating the instructions? I can take a picture with a more close up view of the HDD area too if you want. Just let me know!

    Hi,

I haven't been able too remove the harddrive too.
I read the manual like a hundred times...
But what I did notice was that I couldn't pull the hdd out because of the extra plastic thing.
The plastic thing wasn't showed in the manual.
I uploaded a picture with the plastic thing encircled with red.

When you pull up on the tab, shouldn't the back pivot a bit at the "plastic thing" and the front raise enough that you can slide the HDD out from underneath the "plastic thing"?
I haven't tried to replace the HDD yet, but that is how it looks like it should work. FWIW!

EDIT: Actually, in the service manual linked to in theriko's signature, they do show a "plastic thing" on page 2-7 and how to remove the HDD!! :)
