Why can't I seem to connect to my wrt300n router using N mode? I am able to connect but with speeds of 54 Mbps only which means that that is only G. Can anyone help me on this? I read some of the suggestions in Google but still it didn't work. I have the latest drivers from Intel's Website and the latest firmware on my router.

Did you enable the N setting in the properties? Have you tried an Intel utility or 3rd party utility to connect? Does the computer detect the network as a N network? Does other computers works in N mode? Have you updated the Intel drivers? You could also ask in the Network section ;)

Yes I enabled it and have updated to the latest Intel drivers. I haven't tried the N capability of the router, just now. I'm reading in Google that many people are experiencing the same problem, they just don't know what is the solution. I'm just using the built in utility of vista ultimate x64 to connect. I'm not so sure if the network is detected as a N network, how would you know anyway?

oki, if you did set it up correctly and it doesn't connect...then either you setup wrong or it is a defective unit

i think my setup is wrong because i have the same problems with others. i dont think its a defective wifi card. or it's just that the wrt300n doesn't support the intel 5300. do you have this kind of setup?

"Read manual for adapter and router, initially switch off any wireless security [in the router] until a reliable connection is achieved".

The wireless utilities that are provided for the laptop (or those with Windows) should detect the router's signal, so select that channel and once security is off in the router you should be able to connect wirelessly

Once all is well, reapply security (but be careful to choose an encryption standard

no I don't have the same router

Yes I searched Google already. I know all about connecting wirelessly except for the N-mode part. As I've said above, I can connect to the router thru G-mode with no problems at all.

enable N mode on wireless adapter

AES cipher, wpa2 for encryption (if desired)

channel width needs to be set to 20/40Auto

remember, mixed mode cause's the speed to default to the lower speed
