I have an older M860TU; early '09 model.
X9100 3.06GHz
4GB RAM (Super Talent W1333SB2GM DDR3-1333 2x2GB)
GTX 260M
etc.
etc.
BIOS is version 1.02.17
The problem is, I've recently bought an 8GB kit (Corsair CM3X8GSDKIT1066 2x4GB) and after installing them, there is no display.
Tried one stick at a time, gets detected as 4GB and Windows boots up.. however it'll sometimes freeze or BSOD with "0x0000001A" MEMORY_MANAGEMENT message.
Any ideas?
I know it sounds like bad memory, but since with one stick individually Windows boots and works, I'm not sure why it doesn't at least post and show me 8GB detected.
Any advice is appreciated![]()

Have you tried running memtest?
-
Have you checked the RAM with memtest? Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
It can take a long time to test the RAM though, so plan on having it run for a while.
EDIT: Got beat to it -
I haven't run memtest yet, purely because individually each stick works (to a certain extent).
I'll run it soon and report back. -
lol within like 5 mins, 20+ errors on one stick..
all good, +rep to everyone.
new ram sticks incoming -
are you sure the m860tu can take 8gb ram?
the user manual says
-
pretty sure it can.. i remember it being an option when i originally bought it.
thanks for the heads up.. either way the ram is very cheap so if it doesnt work it'll go in another laptop. -
I have 8GB of RAM.
Seems to work fine. -
