    Hello

I just recieved my M860TU this morning but there is a problem with the screen.

When I power up it displays the reseller logo and the option to enter bios and then it suddenly shows a screen with red/green/blue lines. The laptop continues the boot process until I hear the Vista chime.

I've plugged an external monitor in and it all works fine.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any advice for me?

    Thanks in advance

    Joe

It sounds like there is a loose cable from the motherboard to the LCD or LCD inverter.

You can contact your vendor about this issue (tell them about the external monitor being fine)... they should be able to instruct on how to re-secure the LCD cables.

Thanks. I had a feeling it might be a loose connections

I called the customer support and they assured me it was tested before it was shipped and it was working fine.

I'm just waiting for a call back then I'll decide wether to return it or attempt to solve the problem myself

I have a new problem now...a self inflicted one

I thought it might be a GPU driver problem so using the external monitor I removed the driver and restarted. Not a good idea!

Now I cannot use the external monitor, I guess because the driver was supporting it. Now I have no way of seeing whats going on! lol what a gimp

Could someone give some advice. Please

    Thanks

I guess you're left with the re-securing cable option, someone in this forum has the service manual.

I tried reconnecting the screen cable at the motherboard...no joy :(

    So I reseated the RAM...no joy :(

Then...I unscrewed the GPU housing and gave the GPU a little push and twist...SUCCESS!!!! :D

Thanks for all the advice. I am now very happy, just hope Liverpool win and that will make my day

EDIT: ! Liverpool just scored an own goal

A push to the GPU? Well you never know what you'll learn everyday :D . Glad that it works, enjoy with your machine!

    :D

I unscrewed the two screws holding the GPU in place and then gently wedged a screwdriver between the case and the GPU, then gave a gentle nudge to make sure the GPU was correctly seated...voila :)
