so is it worth it to buy a x9100 over say a regular 2.8ghz?

    ^^ like said.

the X9100 is not OC'able in the M860TU... only in the M570TU/ETU.

    recommend to get a T9800 or a Q9100 instead. :)

how well can a M860TU play games...

i'm having life dilemma choosing between this, the sager 9262 and the dell xps.

I can't decide if the mobility is worth sacrificing for the power (money is not really a issue here as long as it's below 3.5k) since i'm going to be using it in college.

the M860TU with a Nvidia GTX 260M will perform better than a 9800M GTX.

so it should play all games at max settings and max resolutions.

certain games like GTAIV will want a quad-core CPU... which is good to have since most games in development now are having multi-thread support. ;)

How about through RMClock? Like you did with your D900K.

In RMclock, my FX-60 was OC'able since the multipliers were unlocked.

but RMclock has not been updated for a while and will most likely not detect new processors properly... especially if they have unlocked multipliers or not.

But how about CrystalCPUID or CPUGenie (think there's a trial for this one)?
Someone with an X9100 and an M860TU mind checking it out?

I have yet to find a way to OC my X9100 and trust me I would love to. The biggest thing that bugs me is that Eurocom told me over the phone the X9100 was overclockable in the M860TU, so you can imagine the disappointment when I revieved this lappy and it was not capable. This laptop is amazing though and even with the 9800gt I can run any game on 1920x1200 on max detail with the exceptions of Crysis and GTA4. I am sure the 260M would be incredible. When intel comes out with a quad of 3Ghz or more I will upgrade my CPU and GPU. Till then I am happy as a pig in poo.
I would maybe recommend the t9800 or t9900 when it comes out, it's maybe a little bit cheaper. The 3.06 is great but is a bit hotter and probly just a few minutes shorter on battery life. Not a big deal though.
Like I said I am in love with my M860TU and I am sure pretty much every user on here feels the same way :)

Our M860TUs can't use quads without the new motherboard.

why is the t9800 preferrable over the x9100?

Because the M860 can't overclock the x9100, which is the whole point of paying $300 more for the x9100, which has unlocked multipliers. 130 mhz alone definitely isn't worth it, plus it uses more power.

When you say unlocked multipliers, isn't that suppose to mean that it's overclockeable?

So up to how much can the T9800 be overclocked?

Are there different versions of the T9800? Like ES, QS, retail and those with SLAY, what are the differences between them?

Then I will buy the revised motherboard or a new Laptop.

Nothing can be overclocked in this laptop until there is support from either SetFSB or Clevo or until someone can successfully modify the BIOS or build another program to software OC.
    Sorry :(

That's not entirely true, the gfx card can be overclocked
