Contact a reseller or an importer and find out. Eurocom might be a good bet to ask, since they speak English and they aren't rude (unlike a certain other importer *ahem*).

However, if you slap on a nice skin on the front black cover of the m860(or in your case 5) TU, you get a very good looking laptop that is personally yours. For example, I got my company logo in the front of my laptop, good for looks and good for advertising. :)

yup.. and how about the gt and gts issue. i heard that the reason that the gt is phased out because it was based on old manufacturing process but does that mean that its performance is below to that of the gts? or vice versa?

well, i see that the EDGE is a good laptop at pcmicroworks but it is very expensive there. is it that really expensive compared to the sager?

So the user is the one setting what application will be utilizing the turbo memory 2.0?

If I have 4GB of physical RAM, would it be better to avail the 4GB turbo memory or just the 2GB?

In choosing between the T9400 and p9500, is 10mW of power that of a difference? Because they differ by 30USD in price.

What advantage does Kingston branded RAMs offer over other RAMs? Because I can see that they are always more expensive. If I have an option of a 4GB kingston 1066 and a 4GB generic 1333 (with kingston more expensive), what should I get?

The Edge is expensive compared to Sager but you get a 200 point test which ensures you get a fully functioning laptop with no issues.

Between the P9500 and the T9400. Yes, the difference is about 15 minutes to half an hour battery life without downclocking.

Most users consider it an unnecessary expense. Do you foresee often dropping your laptop while it's in use?

    That's very much personal preference.

No, it doesn't work like that.

Regarding the RAM, 1333Mhz won't offer you increased performance, so you're better off saving your money. At any rate, some users swear by certain brands of ram, others will merely tell you to get one with a life-long guarantee.

so what does the 1333mhz offer me over the 1066mhz?

when the 4gb turbo cache memory is installed, does it automatically run in vista without me changing any settings?

pc torque told me that the 9800gt on the m860tu was not stable that is why it was replaced with the gts, is that true?

Not stable. Well, if this isn't stable, give me unstable everytime. I think they just wanted to sound competent and make you stop asking questions about it. The 9800m GT was discontinued by Nvidia because a new one is being developed to fit the standards of the 9 series chipsets.

The one i have in my system is a rebranded 8800m gtx with a flashed VBios to give the 9 series features. I wouldn't have it any other way either. :)

Also, the 1333MHZ RAM gives you a little more overhead to overclock the system. If 3dmark06 is your thing, I get 10,060 with my current config.

that's good. so it's not advisable to get a m860tu with the old GT nowadays?

How about the Turbo Memory, should I get a 2GB or a 4GB one when I choose to have 4GB 1333MHz physical ram?

Just a note, the 1333Mhz will downclock to 1066Mhz, however 1333Mhz RAM also tends to be higher latency.

1333MHz ram has higher latencies at 1333MHz. When run at 1066MHz, it will have the same latencies as 1066 ram or lower.

The turbo memory has nothing to do with your physical ram, so I would recommend getting 4GB

So in short, should I still get the 1333 MHz? Why will it downlock to 1066 MHz?

the chipset in the m860tu only supports up to 1066MHz ram, so you cannot run it any faster. If you plan to overclock, then the 1333 is good as it gives more leeway, but if not then it's not generally worth it.

    is overclocking in laptops easy?

but why do some reseller offer the 1333 mhz if the mobo the 8660 does not permit the use of such?

should i get the old gt or the new gts?

Marketing gimmick to charge you more money tbh.

I'd get the GT for the 50% increase in shader processors.

that's good. Anyway, I want to buy from PC Microworks now, are they a reliable company? I read that they are somehow connected with a store named "hyper... something" that recently closed down? Is this true?

And according to them, they discontinued their option of adding an Intel Turbo Memory Cache because they had som problems with compatibility before. Is this true? Or is the Intel Turbo Memory Cache needed really?

The initial launch of Edge's came with 2GB of turbo memory free and the software for them was not properly implemented by Intel. Users were having problems with it so PCmicroworks.com have stopped having it in the laptops. If you call you can specifically request that they put it in.

Furthermore, PCmicroworks.com have done nothing but show they are great resellers, they have given inaccurate dates about the launch of the EDGE but for every time they did so, the customers were compensated. Other companies tell you do deal with it and stop acting like little children. :)

About the hybridgear issue, PCMicroworks.com has a link to the owner of the now defunct hybrid gear but I have been assured that he has no part or say in the runnings or operations of the company and I am ok with it. In fact, so far PCmicroworks has been proving themselves a reliable company that the sticky topic that accused them and cause many individuals to lose great deals on a great system has been removed.

I can tell you from my accord that I am not experiencing any of the problems that some users have faced with their m860tu that caused them to send it back to their respective companies, in some cases to look for a totally different laptop altogether and everyone who has bought an EDGE from PCMicroworks is estatic about it with no issues. So yes, you pay the premium, but you get a laptop with no downtime and if it is a means of income for you, trust me, you will make back the total cost of the laptop in no time. :)

i just asked them if they can install a turbo cache memory and they said unfortunately not. they said i can buy online and install it myself. where can i buy a 4gb intel turbo cache memory robson 2?

what did you mean "and the software for them was not properly implemented by Intel" ? Does this mean that for all resellers who implements this technology, all bundled Intel softwares were not good fro them?

Exactly. Everyone was catching their royal *ahem* to get it working properly. And if they did, it would apparantly go to hell when the system was restarted.

However, Intel has released an update for their software and I haven't been hearing any more complains....so... :)
