I am waiting for mine to arrive and out of boredom? I decided to test my desktop PC. I believe it is a bit slower than them.
Windows XP, driver forced 16x AF, 0x AA.

    3dMark06 at 1280x1024 ~8900

Crysis pre release demo with the benchmark tool 1.5, two passes, second pass result.

High details 1280x720: high thirties (don't remember exact number now)
    Medium details 1280x720: 57

I will of course add my results with the notebook after I receive it, algthough that will be Vista Premium 64.

If one or more of would like to share your numbers, please do.

    E6600 @2.4
    Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB
    2GB ram DDR2
4 HDDs, but no raid setup.
Windows XP SP2. With all the updates, but not SP3 yet and probably ever.
No changes to the clocks or volts for any hardware.

I don't want want to make this a competition, just something to pass the time while waiting for the notebook. :)

I would think, depending on your new rig's specs, it would be 1k higher.

With the 9800Gt and the p9500 or t9600 you looking at about the same scores with ~500 score difference.

o_O' I wouldn't say 1k higher, more like 300-400 points higher, you used xp for your desktop, using vista will knock off anywhere from 100-500 points compared to a xp run.

I ordered the P8600. Will see. More interested in games than 3dmark06. Just curious how similar the performance will be. (I am 100% satisfied with my desktop PC's speed)

My M570TU scores about 9200 so depending on the config of the new M860TU, he might get that high...

Please remember that 3dMark06 means just a little more than the Windows Experience Index. It does give you a general idea of how a system preforms, or if something is hogging resources/broken, but it's not to be taken as gospel and it won't necessarily determine how well your hardware will preform in specific games.

yes, for instance, if you look at some ati cards, they may fare very well in 3dmark checks, but are crap in real life where it counts.

seriously with crysis being the only real stress for Modern GPU hardware i'm suprized any one even talks about ATI any more.. mabye when Diablo3 comes out people will actualy care about ATI again.. but seriously if your a hardware enthusiast nvidia is the only option atm imo.. GTX 280 for 400-500 for desktops and 9800m GT or 9800m GTX /9700m GT .. any thing els and your not really a hardcore gamer imo.. (or u just dont like crysis or farcry games lol>)

that is bull****. The Ati 4870 outpreforms some GTX 280s (depending on the manufacturers clock speed...) and is priced better.

waiting on 3870/4870 moblile in something reasonably portable to see how they preform. But come on, they are all clocked similar, they all have at least 256bit gpu's, so some people (like myelf) tend to go with ATI because their cards offer the best bang for the buck.
