Buy your own wifi-card and install your own OS to save money.![]()
With Intel not officially launching Montevina yet....
Hopefully this pricing holds stable as other vendors start having their pre-orders.
"Bang for the buck" 15.4" high-end gaming for sure.![]()
As for shipping dates, I would not expect these units to ship to customers until at least late June / early July.

P.S. the Alienware M15x has probably just met its match for price/performance... especially for those that laid out $3k+.![]()

finally here.
-
Yup,the base price was not a news for most of us. But the ridiculous price of the Wifi and bluetooth module and OS...well,that`s another story.
-
You should take a look at their memory prices.
Anyway, to make this deal sweeter, you can use their education discount program:
http://www.eurocom.com/products/graduate.htm
It says a 5% discount, but I heard people getting a 10% discount. -
Hasn't this been up for a while?
-
its been in the "Future products"... not sure why they moved it to the current products page... unless if they have an edge on the info the system's release.
-
Hmm, so does this mean it will definately be 1900-1200 and no chance of coming with Vista Home Premium?
-
not sure if that price is firm... but it should be close.
you can buy Vista Home Premium for less than $80-90 at most colleges... for student/teachers of course. -
Any idea about the LCD Resolution?
-
I suggest you to wait for sager version. I don't trust eurocom anymore. 3 weeks ago they told me that m860tu will ship out on 1st May.
-
two choices, it seems:
- WUXGA 1920x1200
- WSXGA+ 1680x1050 -
Bummer, super high res options,I think WXGA+ would be optimal...
-
So if its based on the montevina platform, yet its using the current socket P processors that mean some of the montevina cpu's will be compatible with older models?
-
It`s what crossed my mind also.
Say Bwhxeon, how come your sig has an Fx ? -
Yippee! HDMI to boot! I'll wait for the Sager version. Sweet!
-
>.> because I own a fx
-
I would expect the typical three options in the end:
WXGA+ (1440x900)
WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
WUXGA (1920x1200)
these are usually the choices for most Clevo notebooks. -
he bought p-6831, sold it; then 5793, and sold it again. now he got the p-6860 with the price of p-6831
-
By the way, what's up with Eurocom's prices? They seem so arbitrary. On the one hand, they want $273 to upgrade from 8700 to 8800 (it's $465 for xoticpc). On the other hand, they want $200 to upgrade from 2GB of memory to 4GB:
http://web.eurocom.com/EC/ec_model_config1(1,189,0) -
the $200 for the RAM upgrade might be due to it being DDR3 and not DDR2.
as for the other prices for upgrades... it could be at cost or just early estimations -
-
It's DDR2 according to their spec (I'm talking about Divine-X).
-
So get the cheapest things from Eurocom and the rest from Newegg and wham, cheapest hardcore laptop.Sweet.
-
. So now selling my vostro and keeping my cheap 6860 for home and just using a old dell for work.
-
Yeah, you can get Divine-X (NP5793) with WUXGA, T9300, and 8800M for less than two grands if you can get a student discount.

I think Eurocom is jumping the gun with this one - the Montevina platform isn't even out yet, and I'd wager these things won't ship until the end of June/early July. It's not like notebook makers start shipping notebooks right away when new platforms are released . . . it takes a bit.
Notice that the processor options are for the current Santa Rosa platform and not the Montevina platform. The Montevina platform will have different processors using the 1066MHz FSB. You can see a list of the processors here:
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4278
To me this looks like Eurocom is just looking for attention . . . I wouldn't take any of the info on their site as concrete as some of it is already wrong. I'll wait until the machine is actually for sale from Sager and authorized Sager resellers . . . -
Just read your list for the Montevina processors, I'm wondering now if the P9500 is going to perform at the same level as the T9400 or if it is going to undercut due to lower power consumption. Then again, I might say screw that and go to the 2.8 one. Argh, the bloody options! -
having a WUXGA screen will show the Full HD movies perfectly... and natively.
You will just have a few more black horizontal lines on top and bottom of the video.
Like watching a widescreen movie on a current display that does not match the movie's aspect ratio. -
Excellent. One question down. What about the processors. In theory of course, as we can't test them right now. lol
-
Well, Eurocom`s TU might not even be based on the Montevina if they "offer" it this early
-
Nah, I'm waiting for Sager version. But I know there isn't going to be much testing time during the time I order and the time it comes out. Which is why I wanted to consider the chips based on theory.

Far. Freaking. Out.
TAKE THAT M15X!!!!! -
From what I gathered....
this notebook will show up and get official pricing from the other Clevo distributors (Sager, Pro-Star, etc..) around the time frame of Computex 2008.
- which will be the debut of Montevina
- and Clevo's chance to show off the final products of the M860TU, the M570TU (refresh of M570RU), and maybe another model that is under wraps now.
Just be patient, this notebook seems to be getting better and better as info (specs, pricing, options, etc..) is leaking out. -
And that Computex exposition is actually from June 3 to 7th. So.....nice.
-
-
I am speculating here (so don't shoot me)...
I believe Clevo is slowly trying to beat out the gaming notebook range from mainstream to large notebooks.
M860TU to beat the 15.4" notebooks
M570RU/TU to beat the 17" single videocard notebooks
D901C to beat the 17" SLI videocard notebooks.
... as well as be the first to have quad core
I believe they are working on a replacement for the M590K (first SLI notebook, 19")/ M590KE (20.1" w/ SLI)....
- to beat out the 19"+ notebooks with high-end videocard(s)
- like the previous generation, there will probably SLI videocards
And maybe... just maybe... the first ever 14.1" Clevo gaming notebook. -
^EEK^
I cant imagine playing Crysis at WUXGA on a 14incher though -
I just hope the M570TU refresh will be like an upgrade for RU users.
-
-
lol if you want to almost buy another notebook ^^^ with the prices they charge for the upgrades you may as well start saving now.. lol
-
It depends. I`m throwing in 1.5k$ in upgrades in July and that must include a CPU, a new GPU ,a new HDD(200 7200 or 320 5400) and probably a new chassis,+shipping.
-
I here people saying this. And saying that 2 gig of ram at Newegg for the m860tu would be $90. So, anyone have a direct link to this supposed RAM? -
I'm with zfactor, all that upgrades will cost almost the same as a new one. -
^^^ exactly
-
750$ for the GPU,350$ for the T9300 and about 300$ for the HDD. +100 $ shipping =1500.
After that whatever I get back from selling the CPU, HDD, and GPU...it`s another story -

I do not believe that is the case.
NBR just does not want to take the heat for publicizing or promoting speculations or rumors.
I talked to Chaz about this since there were some confirmations needed, and I could not confirm because Clevo usually sends out an official document to the distributors for the pricings of new units... and that does not exist at the moment... or an official anyway.
Sager and Pro-Start sources have told me that there is no confirmed pricing yet... so that is why Chaz is chiming in with that comment.
Eurocom is a great vendor/distributor, however since other huge Clevo distributors cannot confirm the M860TU pricing... we just have to wait. -
Another note...
"its just about playing it safe"
I remember taking some heat here on NBR when I published detailed specs of the D900C before it was even debuted last year... many vendors and distributors that did not get confirmation from Clevo yet had an uproar since they said that NBR should not be working on a single source's information... especially when its not official.
So I have been there.
I understand NBR's stance on writing and publishing information with at least some concrete evidence. -
No m860tu on Clevo's products for Coputex 2008
http://210.241.128.64/product_list.shtml?comno=09424319&showno=2008NSC1015 -
Companies will debut products and such without listing them, especially they are supposed to be secret until the launch date.
M860TU for pre-order already?!?
