Will I be able to buy the new M860TU if I live in Ontario, Canada. I don't know any Clevo retailers in Canada. Any ideas?

Yup Eurocom is the only one that comes to my mind but they're really overpriced. I suggest to buy it from a different reseller like xoticpc.

How does it work if I buy from xoticpc? Aren't the prices shown on their website in USD?

Yeah, you can basically use a Canadian credit card and purchase the laptop in USD. Then you have to pay gst and/or hst once it's delivered to you. There might also be some custom fees you have to pay (i think it's about $50 but i'm not sure) but chances are you will still save 100's of dollars compared to what eurocom charges.

    Custom Fee
Brokerage Fee (charged by delivering company for custom fees)
    GST*
    PST**

*GST also applies to customs & brokerages
    ** PST too + GST.

UPS brokerage fee is $65 on a $1500 item

Will I be paying the 13% tax as it is in Ontario?
Will xoticpc have the M860TU as soon as it is released?
For example, if I were to buy a $2500 laptop, I pay the 13% tax and shipping.
    2500+325+shipping?

You will be hit with a fee of $300 or more for customs charges. Mine was about $320 (don't remember exact amount). It was well worth it.

wow, I was thinking of buying either a Sager 8660 from xotic pc or a zepto nox, but never knew about all these extra fees...
I thought it was just convert the USD into CND and pay 13% tax (Ontario, Canada). And ofcourse the 30$ for shipping...

other than the shipping, 13% tax and the price of the laptop, what else am I paying for if I want it delivered to Toronto (either 8660 or nox a15)?

    Eurocom doesn't seem overpriced.

I configured as closely as possible the M860TU at Eurocom and XoticPC and the Eurocom was cheaper. The only discrepincies being that Eurocom doesn't have a 160gb 5400rpm hard drive so I had to go for a 250gb 5400rpm one and that the carrying cases probably differ. Also, the warranty and support should be better from XoticPC.

Well, I need an operating system and Eurocom doesnt even offer Vista home basic or premium 64bit, but offer everything else which is +200 minimum. And their wireless, bluetooth and webcam is immensily overpriced.

So I asked this about 2 posts up; other than 13% tax, 30$ shipping and the price of a laptop, what else am I gonna have to pay (additinal fees that no1 seems to mention) to get a Zepto or Sager 8660 over here to Toronto?

Holy smokes! I was hoping to order this lappy and I'm in Toronto as well! I never knew that there was going to be so much bureaucracy about it all. How about sagers site? I have priced it out on sagernotebook.com and, although I had realized that the prices were USD, I though I would just have to pay the exchange rate and shipping. So there is also a 300 dollar(ish) duty charge as well? Is that what I'm hearing?

You can ask Eurocom to do price checks. Im talking to them via email at the moment to see if they can get comparable rates to xoticpc or PNB. they are taking longer than I would like to respond though.

edit: holy crap its like eurocom read my email and changed their configs lol. they now offer a P8400 and DDR-1066 just like i asked for :)

    ok guys I ordered:

    Eurocom M860TU WSXGA+ - $1899
    P8400 2.26ghz 3mb CPU - -$160
    ATi Radeon HD3870 GDDR3 GPU - -$300
    2GB DDR31066 - -$60

    total = $1379

I got a feeling theres no wireless card in that but thats possibly ok cause i can take it out of my old laptop (ill have to check on that though).

Quick question: Does Eurocom honor their quotes? I just configured a M860TU for $1475 with Eurocom, but I can't buy it at the moment; so I e-mailed myself the quote. If the price increases in the future, can I still buy at the price quoted in the e-mail?
Did you choose one of the two offered cards?

Everything is fine but the cost of their operating systems, and their extras are overpriced a bit, no thermal compound listed (maybe they do it standard...) I don't know.

I don't know how often they edit their prices, but I configured one that came up to $1700 (ati 3870), and now $2200 (9800M GT), all the while Xotic PC is staying at $1700 (9800M GT)....

Xotic PC is a better deal unless they make some major changes ASAP.

I configured two in US dollars, with Intel 5300, a P8400 2.2GHz, a 160gb 5400rpm hard drive, WUXGA, 2gb 1066MHz, no operating system, and a 9800m GT. The only difference is the Eurocom was configured with a TSB212 backpack and the XoticPC was configured with a TSB312 one. The XoticPC came to $1899.26 (including cash discount) and $1893 from Eurocom. With such a small difference the XoticPC wins for the warranty and service.

However when configured my options (WUXGA, 3870, 2gb 1333MHz, nothing extra) the Eurocom total is $1399, while the minumum price (with WUXGA) from XoticPC is $1636.39. So it would seem you get more for less with XoticPC and less for less with Eurocom.

I am in the same position as you, I want this laptop but the price for the extra fee is killing me..., like I 100% need wireless card, but eurocom charge almost 100$ for it ... wtf? I am happy I already have my OS cuz them is like 200$... are you kidding me... anyways, waiting for more news about it!

Edit: by the way do you guys know what kind of custom fee i should pay if I order with Eurocom since the warehouse is located in new york? Or maybe since the company is Canadian they ship it to them and when eurocom receive it in canada they ship it to me... dunno

My advice is to not take Eurocom prices seriously (as Gophn always suggests). We already know Intel 5300s are $29 per 1000 so there is no way Eurocom should be charging $125 for them.

    Negotiate!

If your going for the bare minimum its the best deal for any clevo M860TU at the moment.

Other than that you have to ask them to price-check or just do your best.

UM yes it is. Im well aware of the fact that all computer companies are actually closer to us, but we get the short end of the stick. if i could get my laptop at american retail prices here in europe, it would be a miracle.

You honestly dont think that you guys are more well off with your prices? its not a tiny difference. its up to 30% more over here in europe.

eurocom changed they price again ... the memory is not 1066 base but they keeped the price of the 1333... no -60$ for choosing the 1066 :S anyways I emailed them with 2 config and asked them to make a deal out of it... ill see in the future.
