Hello, i have clevo m860tu with latest bios. I have problem. Notebook wont turn on.. classic problem with black screen. I mean..problem is mxm card. I buy new (old) card for clevo m860tu. New card is gtx260m and old card is 9800gt m. I use new card and have stay black screen. I see leds and with old and new card turn on, fan works normal and hdd led blink only once. Without mxm card notebook turn on and see hdd led and normal blink as it normally works and boot windows. does anyone have experience if there really is a problem in the card or mxm slot? I do not have where to test my cards. I am from czech republic. Sorry for my english.

Given the age the card may simply be dead.

are you inclined to the fact that the problem is really in the graphics cards? I do not want to buy a new one if there might be a problem in the motherboard

It would be hard to tell without trying spares, but given the chips we are talking about it's most likely the GPU. But not certain, no.

both cards after inserting into the mxm slot make the same with the laptop. Turn on and black screen, only hdd led blink once and this is all.. I'm afraid to buy a $ 100 card to find out that a bad board is defective. is it some way to measure the power of the mxm slot? pinout?

The first two combined pin sets are for power and ground, respectively. They can be identified easily since their pins are joined together in two large tabs on the MXM card.

If the machine boots up ok without the GPU in it then yes that would work.

If it beeps and shuts down a card of some sort will need to be in there.
