That sounds like a good idea.
Thanks for the suggestion Neil.

This is just a long shot, but i thought i may just ask. Milcs i had the same problem as you. I play a couple of games for not even more then 30 mins and my temps reached near 92C I freaked out looked at my laptop inspected it, and everything on the outside looked fine. Thinking nothing of it i put it on my notepal infinite thinking it would bring down temps it did a bit but still after only 30 mins of gaming 90C alarmed i stopped. Unplugged my notebook let cool down and decided to take it apart. Guess what i found? Apparently the vents where covered with plastic, not normal plastic, but the kind of plastic you take off from new stuff tapped all over the vents. I was kind of upset apparently someone for got to take all of the new plastic sticker stuff off before assembling my notebook. I ripped all those plastic stickers off. Now my temps read normal maxing around mid 70C to low 80C when i game on intensive games like Crysis, and CrysisWarhead. Even after long gaming Hrs of WoW and FFXI never hits near 65C. I dunno if you checked yet, but i thought i should just throw that out there.

I did see some black thick plastic around the GPU (underneat, to be more precise). Is this plastic you are talking about?
I opened the laptop a few times to check for things blocking the fan and the exhaust, but failed to see anything. Obviously, I didn't go around unscrewing things, so I don't know if there is anything blocking it underneath or partially hidden.
I will have a more careful look later...
Thanks very much for the info Edit. -
yep sir that would be it go check your other vents too. Before you remove it though i would suggest you have some sticky cleaner ready. The heat that was generated from your gpu, cpu, and HDD well you will see you will have sticky residue once you remove that black plastic. Honestly i saw no use for it, it just blocked vents, Although i did notice it did help with the temps on the hard drive, but sorry i kind of value my CPU AND GPU thank you very much.

Hi yukon. thanks for that info.
it sounds like there could be a few things that conflict with the turbo. i also downloaded the HD idle fix but my turbo had gone before that. kobalt say it could be a conflict with the fingerprint reader. turbo needs to be loaded first. i loaded the fingerprint reader first and then deleated the user as it didnt work first time and after that the turbo was gone. the intel folder is still there under programs but the turbo is not.
im just thinking of ripping the thing out (ok,ill let kobalt do that) and forgetting about it. -
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\PinningUI\ITMSysTray.exe"
Let me know if it works. -
-
Hum, dont want to create another thread but is there someone else who have troubles when going to sleep/hibernation. Around 20% of the time, when I go to sleep or hibernation, the computer crashes then loads back, saying: Vista wasn't shutdown correctly etc... There even more chances of that happening when there's no battery in.
-
out of all the various language folders in there the english us only has 2 items in it while all the other language folders have 4.
the 2 items it has are: intel turbo memory dashboard & ITMdashboard.resources.dll
the 2 missing are itmdashboard.resources file & ITM sys tray.resources.dll smart pin sys tray
thanks for your help but i wont change anything until i take it back to kobalt. -

I received my laptop yesterday and I'm having a few problems:
- CPUID Hardware Monitor crashes everytime I start it up (.exe crash)
- When I run the Intel Matrix Storage Manager setup it tells me: This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit.
- How to enable the microphone? -
so here's the upload: http://www.mediafire.com/?5ngzztw3tey
2. Did you install the drivers in order? I really have no idea why its doing this
3. Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab. I though it was enabled by default -
I havnt read all these posts yet, but just to give you guys hope and envy, i dont really have any problems with my machine.
I have noticed that i get extreme lag on Crysis Warhead, but have just also discovered that there is a memory leak in the game so it just needs a patch to fix it. My hard drive does not get that hot either. my old laptop actually got hotter. I notice that the top right gets hot, but thats because the heat wings are there. Its supposed to get hot. Thats its job.
The real reason that people find the M860tu palm rest to get so hot, is because its metal. Most other laptops are some sort of plastic wich doesnt conduct heat very well. metal on the other hand does. Your just not used to it. Lets not also forget that there is not much aispace in this thing since there is so much crammed in it, but it all managable.
talk to you all soon^_^ -
2. Fixed
3. I guess it was but it was on mute for some reason
I have some other problems though
- The high pitched noise from the CPU, even with bluetooth and RMclock on.
- Windows takes quite some time to start up (the blue-bar thing) even with bootvis nothing changed, defrag etc. I have Windows XP 32bit SP3.
- Overclock with SetFSB, it works but where can I see that I have 2.7GHz. -
- We didn't really found a solution. Maybe you want to search the forum (I can't right now, my college internet always times out)
- Blame .Windows, not the computer. It takes me around 5 bars in .Vista, up to 1.30 minutes to 2 minutes for everything to be loaded (Sidebar, Messenger, ESS, etc...). If I had time to waste, I would definitly try to install another OS.

I have XP and mine is random from 5-10. The rest is fast enough for me.

Hello everyone...
A quick question... Is anyone test driving the new Bios? What does it do exactly?
I guess a new bios should address:
- CPU whinning
- Uninteligent Fan control
- Keyboard responsiveness
- High latency (especially on lower CPU states and when the GPU is changing clock speeds)
Any ideas on whether this will ever happen? -
Hi all! i have this portable and suposedly it has the intel turbo memory of 2GB. But i cant really run it. i installed all the drivers in the order they appear in the manual. Then when i activate the AHCI in the bios the pc keeps rebooting, i can see a blue screen from time to time but its too fast. Any ideas? I also dont see any AHCI reference in the device manager list.....
here's an image showing the device manager:

Hi Maxrunner and welcome to the forum.
any chance of telling us you model and spec of your computer.
look here first just to see if its still there.
start > all programs > intel matrix storage manager.
in there should be intel matrix storage console & intel robson ??? (cant remember the full text as mines gone)
if the robson file is missing your the same as me.
i have no idea how to find it. not sure if its on the drivers cd or not.
anyone able to help max out.
im not bothering replacing it. its the second turbo card ive had problems with so im scrapping it. -
HI! well i finally managed to at least install everything and enter the OS with the option AHCI activated on the bios, i have both consoles, matrix and intel turbo memory, but i dont know how do i work with the intel turbo memory, here's some images of both:
http://img79.imageshack.us/my.php?image=intelmemoryjj0.jpg
http://img79.imageshack.us/my.php?image=intelturbone5.jpg
Sorry for the Portuguese language....
EDIT1: i have the intel matrix storage console and intel turbo memory console.
EDIT2: My computer is the M860TU with the 9600GS, 320 GB HDD 7200RPM, 4 GB RAM DDR3, 2GB of intel turbo memory, eyeshot camera...etc....i also have some problems with the sound, or the sound isnt great. Some distortion when the volume is higher.....anyway im more interested of activating the intel turbo memory. I donwloaded both the intel chipset and AHCI, and turbo memory drivers from clevo's website. Can anyone explain me a bit what i need to do to see if intel turbo memory is really working, also how do i use the options readyboost and readydrive?
regards, -
Also i dont have nothing in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\ with a folder PinningUI\ITMSysTray.exe"
Actually in my version the file that calls the intel turbo memory console is the "ShellEx.exe " in the folder "C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\Extn.
And the matrix storage is in here: "C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\Shell.exe"
also, in the clevo website they have the AHCI driver and the intel turbo memory drivers. But both of them seem to intall the matrix driver although different versions -
Hmmmm! I seem to be having a bit of a problem with hanging. My notebook sometimes just seems to seize up. Could happen when I'm playing a game, or just surfing the web. I can alt-tab, but it won't actually switch to any other windows. Also can't activate task manager with ctrl-shift-esc, and ctrl-alt-del doesn't do anything either. Have to turn it off manually, or pop the power out.
Scanned my HDD, and it seems ok. Maybe it's a RAM problem? -
-
So...
Recently at least I think I just noticed this today...
My 8660 would start getting really loud periodically and stopping and I'm not doing anything differently, just playing WoW.
It kinda sounds like the HDD spooling up really hard then stopping but I don't know. Maybe the fan?
All my temps are normal. -
So nobody can explain me the intel turbo memory thing???readyboost and readydrive things???
-
You should have not only the Matrix storage manager thing but also an intel turbo memory console that lets you enable ready boost/drive.
this program was installed with the driver. Might want to try installing a newer version of em? -
I have both consoles, the question is how do i use this thing to improve for example the boot of the OS....
regards, -
heres the issue im having right now in crysis warhead...
my framerates (all enthusiast except one is gamer, 20-40fps) are fine but when i turn in a new direction for the first time the whole game freezes for half a second and completely takes me out of the action, and it does it all the time when i enter new areas. when its a large new area the game literally skips like a cd for 30 seconds, and it completely ruins cutscenes. its like its constantly loading new textures or something and my computer cant load or stream them fast enough or something. ive noticed some ugly textures that i dont remember being in crysis. as soon as i run around an area and what i assume is get everything to load in it works just fine...
i just got the game yesterday so i was hoping to solve it before moving on. is this the same problem? is there a fix? any ideas? -
The M860TU is shipped with outdated Realtek drivers. Download the update found in this post by Tarentum:
-
Also...
If you are expecting to run everything at enthusiast (or almost...) at high resolutions, I think you are in for dissapointment.
I ran Warhead at 1280x800 and prob all gamer and that gave smooth gameplay. In the end, it's powerful... but it is still a laptop. -
-
Stereo Mix... what's that?
If you're talking about the Realtek Audio Manager, there aren't any changes made to it after the update.
I had a lot of distortion when I increased the volume during music playback, and my on-board speakers improved so drastically, I say go ahead and download it for peace of mind if nothing else. It must've contained some fixes and tweaks for such a specific problem to be remedied. -
Yes, mine came with the 1.91 version of realtek drivers, and there was always some distortion....im hoping this new ones fix that.....
-
im not sure which if any of these replies are to me...
milcs im assuming youre replying to me. im running at 1280x800 and as i said, its not a fps issue, even when the game is stopping and skipping the fps never dips below 20.
the cutscene i just endured for example literally skipped like a cd for a few minutes, showing me maybe one frame every 30 seconds. then when the cutscene finished and it went to gameplay the same exact thing happened until it finished loading or something and then it was completely smooth after that... -
Hmmmm. Been too lazy to run Memtest - can't believe I need a boot disk - but the HDD scan seems to uh... have fixed the problem. I think it might have been related to Vista SP1.
-
Im very confused about the whole intel turbo memory. I've some videos about user pinning and dashboard but i dont know if the clevo m860tu supports all that.....:S
-
The new audio drivers don't seem to have the stereo mix option, unfortunate, because I don't mind my bass box giving off a little sound than actually losing the functionality of that feature.
Stereo Mix is used to record 'what you hear' on the computer. It can be useful in many circumstances, for example, recording a live stream audio. -
-
For some strange reason, the new drivers give me two microphones as recording devices, essentially replacing the stereo mix. If I can just find out why its doing that and correct it, it would be a perfect driver.
Anyone know any dedicated sound card forums? -
I still have Stereo Mix in my list of devices.

j/k
I went to Vista64.org forums and got assistance on the drivers. Now I have the stereo mix, my HD Audio manager is there and my bass box no longer 'breaths'. I'm happy now.
Now all I need to do is to get clevo to have proper Esata support and detect my video camera and Vista 64 will be perfect. -
I'm running vista ultimate 64-bit and I'm having trouble running games in directx 10. Every time I launch a game in dx10 the screen is blank but you can hear the normal intro and menu sounds. If I put the -dx9 extension behind the shortcut it will boot and play fine, but I'd like to take full advantage of the hardware I have. This has happened on Crysis Warhead, Bioshock, and Far Cry 2, which are the only games I have installed that use dx10. It didn't always do this, but I don't remember when I started having trouble, I've tried the 17813 drivers posted here, the 18042 drivers just released, and recently I went back and redownloaded the original sager drivers, but I still get the same result. Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
-
update on my crysis warhead issue, i just got my second blue screen of death during one of the times it skipped like a cd for 30 seconds.
i dont remember when it was last time but this time it was on the first level when you first see the open area with the beach and the ship in the distance and the plane flies over and bombs the ship. the game says "use B for binoculars" or something like that and when i did and it zooms in everything froze and the audio started skipping for maybe 30 seconds and then the BSOD...
im trying to narrow down whats causing it heres my thoughts:
videocard: my 9800gt is overclocked but i had literally just opened the game to test if these settings helped so i wouldnt think it would be the heat... could it be that its overclocked and thats all? could it be a driver issue?
harddrive: ive had trouble lately with defragging my harddrive, it says defragmenting and then doesnt finish, after hours and hours. could it be the harddrive failing to load or stream stuff properly?
RAM: BSODs are memory errors which would indicate a RAM issue right? im running memtest right now and i dont have any errors yet after about an hour. -
-
So, I'm still having the same problem with no idea how to fix it. I installed the newest DX10 redist and it's still doing the same thing. I've tried 3 different drivers and it does the exact same thing with all of them. Something strange, when I load up DXDIAG before it opens a window opens and says "C:\Windows\system32\wbem\wbemsvc.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error." But when I click ok it loads up fine and says there are no problems, when I click run 64-bit dxdiag another window pops up that says "C:\windows\system32\wbem\wbemprox.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error." then it opens up fine and says everything is running properly. I'm sure this has something to do with it, I'm thinking my Vista installation might be corrupt somehow, but you would think there would be a way to just uninstall all the files related to DX10 and reinstall them, I've yet to figure that out. The weird thing is, with the -dx9 extention the games run perfectly, and look beautiful, and my 3dmark06 score is still around 9000 which is exactly where it should be. I would really like to utilize the full potential of my hardware though, so this is really bugging me, it just doesn't make sense. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on here?
-
You can actually activate by going to the recording devices and right-click and show deactivated devices....
