    Hey all,

I'm looking to replace my graphics card...again. I picked up a Quadro 3700M but its basically crashing everytime I play a game. I realised I haven't actually upgraded my BIOS at all so I'm still running on 1.00.07, I was planning to upgrade to 1.00.08 then to 1.02.17 (as is apparently recommended). I'm wondering if this will make a difference to the crashing or if I should just proceed in getting a 260M gtx?

    I was looking at:

    Genuine Asus G51VX G60VX Video Graphics Card 1GB 260M GTX 60 NV3VG1000 D01 | eBay

    Look reasonable?

Just get the P150SM if you can fit in your budget. I had a M860TU and that's what I did. It was about time....

youve got to be careful with compatibility as like dell im not sure if asus will work in a clevo.

dont know if this info will help but this is what shows up using hwinfo32 on my m860tu with a 260gtx

Thanks dynamite, but my plan is to eke out another year/two out of the 860TU then go for a massive upgrade and get a Broadwell based laptop.

Thanks DJ, how would I be able to check compatibility? Email Clevo? Could a flash a new GPU bios over it?

Alternately, I'd love to work out why the eff my 3700m seems to keep freezing during gameplay.

honestly i have no idea if it will work or not. might be worth shooting a pm off to Meaker as he knows quite a bit about this i think, more than me anyway.
as far as ive read on here if the card is from a dell a bios flash will still not work but as i said i have no idea about asus cards.

when my 9800gt died it was changed to a 260gtx under warranty so ive never had to change or upgrade my gpu myself.

hope someone else can advise better than me.
    good luck.

Without even looking at the ASUS card I'm pretty sure it's mechanically incompatible. First thing it is indivudually formed to fit into the asus laptop, second is the connector which is slightly different. The m860tu uses the MXM III 2.1 HE standard. GTX 260m cards are kinda rare, so you'll be on the lookout for sometime. The fx3700 is a very decent card already and I could imagine your old bios might be a problem. Before you can go the the latest version you have to upgrade to 1.00.08 and I can't find it anywhere on the net.
I can perfectly understand though that you want to stick with the clevo, since there are no 16:10 ratio screens anywhere out there plus it's still a really tough laptop.

You need an HP card 3700M. Most of them will work. I can even point you the vBIOS needed for the card.

Asus cards tend to be proprietary. Your best bet is a Clevo card, if you can find one. For compatibility with other cards, this is a good place to inquire! Don't hesitate to ask the sellers as well.

I don't know if the Asus card would work, but I based off of current knowledge, I doubt the one you linked is compatible with your M860.

Never use an Asus card in any other brand, that's nigh on universal rule.
