Ok, I think I've asked this before in a slightly different way... but here it is again.

My current laptop is a 3 year old 17" HP dv8000 with 1440 x 900 resolution, 2.1GHz dual-core, etc. etc. Needless to say, it needs to be updated before I head off to college.

But, I'm still debating whether or not to get another 17" (M570TU) or downgrade to a 15.4" (M860TU). I love performance, I don't love overheating (which likely isn't an issue anyway), and I don't know if it's "worth it" to "downgrade" to a 15.4". Judging by the weights of these machines, there's not really much of a difference between them in that category.

My only issue with a 17" is that I don't want a tank:

So much as I want something like this:

College-bound gamer in mind, what would you guys choose?

Out of curiousity, which car is in the second picture? It looks really nice.

If you're taking it around, get the 15".

The difference between them should be Murcielago vs. Gallardo, not H3 vs. CCX. NP8660 is a big big 15.4"

Hm... that's what I mean. It's a fatty 15.4" vs a relatively normal 17", so do you think the 17" would be the side to lean to?

if you have autocad or solidworks, draw them out in 3D mode and compare the size difference, that should help.

I would take the 17 incher , better cooling, more screen space and all in all, better for work and games.

the size difference between teh two and weight is not HUGELY great. i would go for 15inch as the slight reduction in dimensions and weight is really apreciated while walking around campus.
