    Hi

As the title says I'm looking for the spec above, P4laptops is offering it with 260 but not the qx9300 and Pioneer Computers has it with QX9300 but not with the 260 yet (they said it will be available soon)

I have emailed P4laptops whether the QX9300 will be available or not and they said something interesting

    "
Clevo have gone back on their testing of the QX9300 on the M860TU.
They will be able to provide confirmation in the next couple of weeks.
    "

so the first thing i have to do now is to wait
Do you think this laptop would be enough to play GTA IV in 1650*1050
and can anyone recommend any M860tu seller here in Australia? :)

    Thanks

There will be a lot of heat / wattage considerations with a 2.5 Ghz Quad Core in such a compact chassis which is probably why only the 2.0 Ghz Q9000 is officially supported at the moment.

I have asked my UK reseller to install and test the Q9100 2.26 Ghz Quad Core paired with the GTX260M and even that is pushing it for a 15.4 chassis.

I expect that laptop to be able to play GTA IV quite well at the 1680 x 1050 resolution. Even a 2.0 Ghz Quad with the GTX260M and the recent GTA IV patches should do ok.

The QX9200 is almost available as well.

If you want the QX9300 with GTX 260M, just contact P4Laptops or Pioneer about it, they should be able to accommodate your request.

Is this revision worth the investment?I was wondering if there's a dual core for the m860tu with 12meg cache?

Nope, 6MB Cache maximum on the older version. It's probably one of the main reasons that the quads wouldn't work as they only take up slightly more energy than an Extreme Duo. The X9100 runs quite smoothly.

Makes me wonder is a Q9000 would work in the older revisions even if it's quite redundant.

Don't you guys think a QX9300 would run too hot in the NP8662?

guys, i forgot to say that i didn't buy it yet so when i buy one it will come with the new mobo
and currently there are 5 or more vendors that offer QX9300 and AVAdirect is offering it now with the GTX 260, so i suppose they have tested it and everything is ok :D

as the guy from P4laptops said that "Clevo have gone back on their testing of the QX9300 on the M860TU" so i hope this CPU will work with no problems

The QX9300 will run without no doubt as processor have a max temp of 105C but because of the temp it will run it might have a shorter lifespan which the reseller do not care because it's almost certainly over 1 year

I think it will be safer and a better compromise to stay with the Q9100 in the NP8662.

Not until May on the first two, no ETA on the X9300. There's no telling when Clevo will officially add them to the lineup, but it's usually within a month.

EDIT: The 2.66Ghz P8800 also comes out in May

They are all 6 mb cache. The P8800 will be 3mb cache.

I assume chaning my cpu might not worth it, unless i go for a quad-core which means a new motherboard.....

from the sentence "one of the two notebooks" I assume he means the m860tu with the 260M and the M570TU with the 280M

i changed my mind and i'll go for the M570etu :D
the weight isn't a big issue because i won't take it with me every day

but the price of the M570tu here is crazy  5950 Australian $ with QX9300 and WUXGA screen (P4Laptops & Affordable Laptops)

if i get the same spec from the US it's 2715 US$ =~3803 Australian $!!!!!!!
shipping is from 70$ to 300$ depends on how fast it is

and the GST is 10% which is about 400$ and a fee of 50$
    3803+150+400+50= 4403 Australian $ . That is 1500$ less

So what do you think guys? should i go for the M570etu  ?

I don't take my laptop with me every day either but when I did travel with it, I was very glad that I opted to get a 15.4 instead of a heavier 17 '' because it made it so much easier. You have to consider how you will travel, how much walking and how much other luggage and accessories will add to the weight.

To give you a good idea of how the weight of the laptop will be like for travel, you can pack the equivalent weight of it in dumbbells into a rucksack and walk around with it for a week lol.

Hei, I have 17inch laptops for more than 4 years now and I don't have a problem carrying them. Although having 5 kg on your back (lap+Ac) for more than 2 hours starts to become annoying.

The QX9300 is over 50% of the base cost of the entire notebook. Definitely not worth it in the M860TU.
