It will be later in the year before I upgrade, but I am wondering which is the better choice for the next couple of years. Since I am interested in performance, for simpilarly configured systems, which one would "win" out?

NP9262 - desktop CPU; can take the new Q9xxx CPUs with a BIOS update; even if GPU is limited to 8800M, still has dual GPU in SLi (which will only improve over time); space for 3 hdds.

Well, I would imagine the M860tu will be a bit pricey when it first comes out, also, as shyster mentioned, The Np9262 has many options for expandablility keeping it decently future proof.

^ As soon as the bugs are worked out; it will be released. You can be assured as soon as Sager has the problems resolved they will release it. They will not release before then as some others have chosen to :(

If I knew, I'd be charging big bux, not giving it away for free here! :D Sadly, I generally know less than most here  - for what it's worth, justin@xoticpc is a generally well-informed knowledgeable gent, so I'd go with his answer.

Quantumstate - LOL, My av is creepy? :)

Sager is on the verge of releasing them. From my understanding there is a few supply issues with these processors and a few loose ends Sager is finishing up on. I believe they have finished the bios (version # 1.00.17a, which is shipping with 9262's now).
