    Hello.

Im stuck with this problem. I have a M860tu with a 9800m GT and any of the newer Windows 7 Nvidia drivers cause my sound to distort and have crackeling in it no matter what Realtek driver or Windows default driver or External Sound Card i use.

Has any one encountered this issue its still happening on 266.58 drivers for me and goes back quite a while. Noticed it starting happening some time during the windows 7 beta after a update. or perhaps when i switched from the beta to release.

Ive read up on DCP lag issues and Powermizer settings and using external displays to keep the GPU at max power level.. but all this doesn't seem to effect the audio issues i'm having even if they are incredibly close in description to those other people. So far the only GFX card driver i have found that can run Audio in win7 on my laptop with out audio errors is the official one by Clevo that is really very old now and does not support many of the newer features/games.

Any one have a idea on what i might be overlooking.

    Bios 02.17

On Battery power i have no damaged audio

On power cable i have damaged audio

on Powere cable + external display i have damaged audio but only in time with flickering on external or internal display (depending on if using HDMI/DVI) at the same time the audio gets damaged.

Powermizer switch did not seem to work
Powermizer manager did not seem to work
Powermizer manual registery edits i could not find values (even thou powermizer manager said it added them via fix)

Are you getting latency spikes? I do have crackling audio, which usually accompanies red spikes and framerate drops.

Honestly, I've given up on troubleshooting it.

I`ve given it up too, but when I use my coaxial cable to my external speakers, its better than HDMI to TV and optical cable from TV to my external speakers.

This is so bad Nvidia or Clevo need to do some thing about this! (i beleave it effects Alienwares as well.. but it does not seem to effect the Toshiba notebooks with the 9800m GT/260m etc) its been like a year of no action to fix it?.

I think im going to try using LaptopVideo2go drivers.

Did any of you manage to get Powermizer overrides working? its interesting that running on battery mode fixes all my issues.. every last one.

so its obviously fixable maybe in the power area?

Ive emailed my Reseller with this info does any other Reseller have any ideas?

Note: I have a friend with a m860tu 9800m GTS and they have no such issues.

This is really upsetting unplugging power cord fixes all issues but external display on both HDMI and DVI flash black constantly while on Power cord. And audio has issues. THis is so strange what would plugging in power do to effect this..! I really hope that Clevo the Resellers and Nvidia look into fixing this. I've had to replace the GPU in this laptop already due to Nvidias blunders in manufacturing to now have it now work due to software is super disappointing.

    186.47 notebook win7 64bit
no static + no external monitor distortion

as well as a Bios update + some New Laptopvideo2go drivers with no luck.

All newer drivers ive found make external screens flash black and white and Audio a mess. When on Power Cord... Off powercord no issues.

Could you give me some more Specifics on your set up MrDJ /Bios/drivers/os etc

Do you think its possible my power-cord is Faulty? Could that possibly cause this kinda of problem? im not so sure seeing as CLevo official drivers 184.47 (even if really old make the problem go away)

i found the best one all round so far was the 186.81
doesnt help much as they are a couple of years old now but imo still the best.

for the older cards like 8800/9800 i think if your having problems then best stick to the older drivers as the newer ones are more directed to the newer gpu's.

Thanks for mentioning the 186.81 ill try them.. but i really need new drivers for gaming in 3D 1280x720 which a 9800m GT is well powerful enough to do of (same as gaming in 2D 1680x1050 performance wize) just got a replacement 9800m GT a year ago because i had a faulty one that died early in the hole nvidia 8/9 series fiasco it was very expensive repair to have lack of support now from Nvidia is really disappointing for me i hope Clevo or Nvidia do some thing about this. A 9800m GT or even a 260m like Kevin has is not dramatically dated card.. it should still have good support.

And Working 100% when on battery power seems like a simple power management fix could correct this issue interlay.!! Any ideas? on modern power management software.

Powermizer switch and Powermizer manager like i said didn't seem to give results. and Unplugging it from power to have unaffected sound and external monitor images for 1hour with no problems only to charge it up again doesn't seem like a good solution.

I've emailed Clevo UK about the issue. if any one has any other contacts at Clevo that would be greatly appreciated. Dealing with Nvidia as a user seems hard.

Seeing as it runs perfectly fine on the 266.58 driver on battery power while has distortion of image and sound on power cable connection would seem that a fix would be quite possible? (in the power management area?)

    9800m GTS seem unaffected.

perhaps only effects the 9800m GT / 260m on the m860tu.

Notebook Powermizer Issues - Please post here - NVIDIA Forums - Page 24

Using the edited INF to install v261.28 is a better workaround, because you don't need to use No 2 anymore then. You may even be able to install current release driver *over* v261.28 and may will still work then.
    [/quote]

Going to try this soon.. hope it works on the m860tu. i Assume v261.28 refers to the Desktop driver with a INF from laptopvideo2go?

edit Tryed 261.28 Quadro Desktop version still no luck.. as well as switched off Auro.. but what i did notice was that on silent mode the problem is fixed so perhaps our laptops have some hardware feature that totally overrides powermizer (hence the powermizer switches are not working for us)

really hope the bellow Sager/Clevo specific driver very recently released works with the m860tu.. as i really would like a newer driver for the m860tu ! i need my HDMI 1.4a output! (does the M860tu have the ability to do that?)

    Clevo Mobile 265.77 Released - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

going to try these in 4 mins once download finishes :D hope they work

dang no luck for newer Sager/clevo laptops not older/universal

M860tu has an inexpensive firewire chip that puts pressure on the DPC latency. I am not sure if that explains the whole problem but it is definitely part of the problem.

Humm seems like setting AC power to fixed Medium under Powermizer Manager 1.01 fixed the issue.(not 100% thou not sure about external monitor performance)

The question now thou is the performance comparable to 186.81 under default? i would guess not. seeing as med never goes higher than 0.85v and on default it goes to 1.00v

so i guess Nvidia made the new dynamic power management screw up the Clevo M860tu... hope they fix that .... eventually Z_Z seems like the 9800m GT cant do HDMI 1.4a acording to Nvidia as well so i may as well use older drivers thanks for the help ever one. hope this helps some one.

(if some one els is looking for the 3D feature support of the newer NV drivers you could look at the Dynamic digital Depth Tridef 3D 3rd party 3D support software that AMD/ATI use.. it also has Nvidia support and is 50$ like the NV option and also has a 14day trial (and seems to have larger output support) and comparable game suport.. doesn't require the newer nvidia drivers to function! possibly a good solution for people with older gen higher end nvidia cards that got outdated to fast because of bugs like these! GURRRR next time i go with ATI... CLEVO tell nvidia off they make you look bad!

getting video scaling problems on DX10 games from 186.81 as well as in 275.21.. Also 186.81 is full of more subtle audio errors only noticeable in more sensitive music but gives a headace after a long period. 186.81 seemed worse than the Clevo official but its hard to compare the audio distortion is very slight and happens only on occasions (not as bad as the horible stuff on latest drivers from Nv).

I notice less audio distortion in 275.21 than in 186.81 and 275.21 seems to be the last driver before nvidia totally distorted support in alot of laptops due to power management changes .. so it seems 275.21 would be one of the better drivers to use till the latest ones get updated. Still haven't tested external monitors on 275.21 but as far as audio go it looks like the best option so far.
