Hey. Im looking at Quadcore upgrade options for my M860tu.
I have a Launch M860tu with a P8600 2.4 duo
running 1.00.06S bios
What quadcore options to do i have.
I recently had the option to pick up a Q9200 ES like that used in
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=364578
kaltmonds setup.
When he mentions " new Machine with QC support" does this mean that not all M860tu.'s will suport quadcores?.
Also is a 2.4 quadcore my best options (i understand the 2.53 QX9300 QS runs to hot in the m860tu)... does intel have any upcoming quadcores .. that will suport the M860tu.. or do you think the Q9200 ES .. QX9300 are going to be the best with no future releases?.

I think this is the moment i start feeling beacuse i realise that these notebooks really arnt upgradable..
So i need a hole new mobo not a bios upgrade
upset.
does not sound feasable lets hope this lasts me for Sc2 and diablo3 or ill be quite upset.
i guess i still have the option of cramming the most powerfull duelcore i can find into this.... and if 2.5 really is the limit for mobile quadcores and they are not going to release any more till the new i7 i5 or what ever it is.... mabye sticking with duels is ok..
whats my best duel option for the m860tu (non m860ETU.)..
2.9 or some thing? -

where did u get this info from?... i remember a sim issue with the np5973 back in early 2008.. people saying they needed new mobos only to find out a bios upgrade would do enugh.. for new processor suport.
and that sagers upgrade mobo program was just a bios flash and backplate / fan switch
any way going to crack open my notebook and look for the revision number tonight.. its from Metabox not Sager so mabye its fine .. I actualy remember quadcore options around the time i got mine.. i remember was it edge that offered a quadcore with launch m860tu? -

The older M860TU and the older M570TU are two different laptops with two different motherboards. Don't compare their situations.
The fact still stands that the older M860TU's, which is what you have, does not support quads regardless of the BIOS. This has already been proven by users here on NBR.

My M860TU is currently being sent back to Eurocom, so that it can undergoe this very process (becoming an M860ETU).
M860tu Quadcore Options? Should i wait
