When will other websites (Such as sager.com) start offering the M860tu? The only one ATM is PCMW right?
Thanks a bunch guys!

Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Intel NDA prohibits anyone to offer the item with its specifications until July 15th. You will notice Sager and their resellers will offer it on Tuesday the 15th.
-
11:00 am 15th July
-
11:00 Am Cst. Pst?
-
11 AM China Standard Time
-
Probably 11am Pacific Standard Time in the U.S. - Intel is headquartered in Santa Clara, CA, which is on PST, so that would make for a symbolic linkage, plus that obviates the problem of trying to keep the release within only those parts of the country that have already passed 11am local time if either local time is used as a referent, or if some other time zone in the US is used that is farther to the east than the pacific time zone (e.g., Mountain Standard Time, which is one hour ahead of PST).

Yes, it is 11 AM PST, which was probably set right along with Shyster1's theory so Hawaii could be awake too.
-
but what about guam? noone ever thinks of guam :'(
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Hey! I used to live on Guam
At 11 AM Tuesday morning it will be 3 PM Wednesday afternoon in Guam...so they will be awake -
I just hope I can get one delivered to Toronto for less than $2000 after shipping and taxes...
Anything beyond that, and I won't be able to afford food @ my University, and my friends & family will think I'm absolutely nuts.
It's too bad there aren't any 15" 256-bit video cards for less than $1500, I think the 8800M GTX is probably more than I'd like to spend relative to overall performance (yes, I'm including Desktop cards in my 'overall' performance category, I could build a pretty strong Desktop for $600, its terrible that portability cost an extra $1400).
It just seems like there isn't a laptop gpu for people who want a 15" laptop & relatively strong performance (around 6000-7000 3dmarks). I've seen benchmarks with the 8800M topping 9500, which is great for gaming, but not great on your wallet. -
-
^^ Yup I'm in the same exact boat as you. I really don't need an 8800M GTX and frankly, I'm really worried to buy a 15.4" notebook with this card crammed inside. I can just see all the heat issues we will be discussing in a month....
-
yeah i am definitely have guilt issues in buying what is going to be a nearly $2000 laptop (going off of the prices leaked/illegal shown/whatever). im more or less 5 or 600 over my original intended budget :/

Then the new Compal model might be right for those that don't need that much video card. It will have the nVIDIA 9600M GT w/512MB and will be considerably less expensive than the Sager NP8660.
It will be available as a Sager NP209x and the PowerPro P 12:15...they will both be up on our website at 3 PM Wednesday afternoon...GUAM Time
Oh, and yes, Guam has electricity as long as either the wind is blowing or the gerbils are healthy and awake. -
The new Sager NP209x will be available next Wednesday? With Montevina processors?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Hehe...note that I said that was GUAM Time...they will be available for order on Tuesday at 11 AM Pacific Time, and yes, they will have the Montevina processors.
Shipping will probably begin the following week. -
Justin couldn't answer my question, so maybe you can... will you be able to offer the new OCZ core series SSD's in those models at some point?
-
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Give your question says "...at some point?" I would have to say probably...but one never knows for sure until it is offered.
-
Oh wow, would you happen to know if the 9600M GT is DD3?
By the way, I'd imagine you and Justin have already seen the M860TU and tested it in one capacity or another. I'm REALLY worried about heat issues with this thing...can you comment on the heat output at all? Are we going to experience a lot of problems or is it relatively cool and stable?
Last question, on July 15th will you only offer the 8800M GTX in the M860TU or will you have other video card options as well? -
Sorry, but part of my confusion comes from how much the resellers actually control product configurations that are offered
I think I understand now -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Can't answer about the video memory yet...shhhh...
Heat will not be an issue with the Sager NP8660. Video card offerings will be announced at the launch. -
lol that's cool, you don't have to name the video card offerings. But just to clarify, there will be more options than just the 8800M GTX on July 15th right?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Stay tuned...that will be announced on Tuesday.
-
Gotcha, thanks.
-
WTB time machine !! On another note since heat does not seem like it is going to be an issue i hope the machine isn't louder than the 5793 on idle to compensate for the cooling.
-
-
Wow thanks for all the quick replies
Other than Sager.com what other sites will be offering the M860tu?
Thanks guys! -

See the Clevo Guide which is a sticky at the top of this forum -
Thanks a bunch!
-
Will the 9600 GT actually use that 512mb or will it be like the 8600 GT, limit to an amount like 256mb, even though the card is offered in 512mb?
-
In other words, it cannot utilize all of that VRAM.

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Deathwinger, I am obviously uninformed. I have never heard that the 8600M GT w/512MB can only access 256MB.
Can you please provide some source for this?
Or, are you saying that some games and/or applications will only demand up to about 256MB? -
I think what Deathwinger meant is that 8600m can't utilize all 512MB due to 128-bit bandwidth.
-
Pacific time? Dang, that sucks. I'm on eastern, so that means I'm gonna have to wait till 3 for the news....
@ARom, yeah the portability is going to suck up a lot of the cost. I mean you can't find a desktop with the dimensions of a laptop can you? Not counting media centers which are retarded hard to build as there are limited parts and heating.... and lack of real GPU power. I was also trying to get under 2000, but try as I might, it went all the way up to 2200, though hopefully I'll get some of that cash discount back. -

^--^
Actually that will be 2 PM EST. -
lol sorry 11am+3=2PM. Math issues.
-
hmm, is that release date going to be the same as justin and xotic or even earlier (gasp). and does powernotebooks ship worldwide?? (i cant open the dam clevo guide, i reached my download limit and my internt is hella slow。。。)
-
To shed some light...
Apparently the Compal has GDDR II RAM. There was a test made by a Dutch reseller in the Compal forum, which pointed out the existence of a GDDR II memory, instead of a faster one.
And now (again, apparently), Novatech has the Compal and they say it has GDDR III RAM.
qaz333, XoticPC ships worldwide (PowerNotebooks doesn't). -
Okay, I'm sure Donald and Justin are getting really sick of being asked this, but what are the expected differences between the current and Centrino 2 wireless chipsets on the m860TU? If I understand right, WiMAX will already be supported on the first shipment of the 860, but not AVAILABLE until later, but the first set of m860s will come with the current Intel wireless chipset and after Aug 4th they will come with the new one--- did I get that right?
Also, do XoticPC or PowerNotebooks plan to offer any sort of "upgrade program" for customers who buy the first batch of 860s and then decide they would like to upgrade to the new wireless chipset? Thanks. -
=) -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Fade to Black is correct...Xoticpc.com ships internationally, PowerNotebooks.com does not. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Sadly, there will be no upgrade program. You would simply have to buy the new card at a cost of around $50...probably less. -
@DONALD
How much its going to be compal jhl90 with montevia proc.?
Why sager built over compal always cheaper even both are the same! -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Pricing will be announced next Tuesday the 15th at 11 AM Pacific Time.
If you are asking why is the Sager version of the Compal model cheaper than the PowerPro version of the same Compal model it is because the PowerPro version comes with a 3 Year Parts and Labor warranty with Next Business Day shipping paid both ways standard while the Sager version comes with a 1 Year Parts and Labor warranty (that can be upgraded to 3 Years for more money at which time they become much closer in price) with 3 Business Day shipping paid both ways (in transit time with PowerPro is 2 days total while with Sager it would be 6 days total)...and the PowerPro version comes with Lifetime 24/7 Toll Free DOMESTIC Technical Support while Sager's is only available during West Coast business hours Monday through Friday.
Another difference is the PowerPro version comes with Corsair or Kingston memory standard that can be upgraded to Kingston Hyper-X low latency CL4 memory...Sager uses more generic memory based on market availability.
