Hi, I bought a M860tu a few weeks back and it arrived, but the thing I am worried about after a few days is the temperature of the laptop.
Here is the temperature with speed fan 3.84

is this a cause for concern?

Nope. 10char

Oh my goodness. What is this madness? Explain yourself.
-
Those temps are pretty standard idle temps, what made you think they might be dangerous?

He probably got scared of the little fire icon next to his ACPI temp.
-
temps are fine. use this for cheking your temps. HW Monitor
-
ah okies and what about these when playing Fallout 3?
-
When maxed, only be concerned if you reach the following:
CPU: 78+
GPU: 86+
HDD: 57+
If you're below these, no worries.
EDIT: yes, please use HWMonitor instead of SpeedFan. -
so just to clarify real quick what is the ACPI?

Use the search button or Google and you will find out.
-
Theres a link somewhere floating around, its the nbr cooling guide. I don't know where it is, and I'm sure someone will post it, if there nice enough.
Uhh, it turns out nbr has scripts that link the guide at every instance of "cooling guide", so good luck. -

Is that safe for SSD or should I not even bother?
-
I see no reason why it wouldn't be fine for an SSD. I'd install it and see if it makes any difference.
-
Can we get a sticky for lowering HDD heat on the m860tu since it is the main issue of the machine?
-
I say ban the next person who makes a topic on M860TU HDD heat.
-
That's not fair Kevin...I have to admit, there are times when one is new to a forum and wants an answer to his problem they will register just to ask it.
A sticky will be much better as people will look at the first few topics to see help for their problem before posting another annoying topic. -
Or, it might be nice to make a sticky called "Use Search Function before posting!"
-
Unless the search function gets disabled again
