After going through a few threads i would just like to know the general concencus on a couple issues with the battery runtime and potential ways to maximize it.

    1. What is the general Battery life using IE or Word With says 20/40% brightness? no wifi/bluetooth. ive read from 2 Hours to as much as 2 40 hours

    2. Can this laptop carry 9 or 12 cell batteries? if so what kind and where can i get them?

    3. What programs can I use to help augement the battery life? Ie underclocking

Thanks for all those that reply

    thats about right.

But you can squeeze out more if you run the system in "Silent Mode"... as well as disable the Optical Drive (which some members have shown saves more power).

    Nope.

use the "Silent Mode" feature that is built into the notebook
Nvidia Powermizer settings to lower GPU performance when on battery.
and look towards RMclock for underclocking.

Thanks for all those that reply

Its a performance notebook Iceman. It won't be the best bet for battery life in comparison to other notebooks that have the 9600m GT in it. Such as the Sager NP2096 or the new Macbook Pros.

I got one because I needed the performance of a 17 inch in a 15inch, whilst being easy on physical mobility, but not necessarily functional mobility like I'm guessing you are looking for.

The most battery I've ever gotten out of mine is 3 hours and 20 minutes.

To get this I disabled my webcam, fingerprint scanner, bluetooth and optical drive. As well, I ran in power saver mode with 2 ticks of brightness.
