    Hey Guys

Just need a little input with people who are more experienced with Clevos then I am.

Here is the Situation, I have an M17 with a Qx9300 in it with a P8600 which came with it originally

I have ordered a M980NU with the bog standard 8700 with a view to swapping it out myself.

    Now here is my problem:

I know that there has been alot of back and forward about Clevos ability to overclock with different machines. I understand that Clevo have never allowed multi overclocking, unlike the M17x, also if you flashed the M17's bios then you could do that with them as well.

What has the success rate been in eventually allowing cpu overclocking in these machines?

Reason i ask is I can remove the qx9300 from my M17 and install it in the M980NU my worry is that although its an extreme chip it might be abit of a waste esp as it sits at 3.2 ghz everyday in my M17

So i am wondering with the limited overclocking ability would I be better buying a high end Dual core say 2.8ghz+ rather then installing the quad?

What has the history been like for getting a method for overclocking on clevos in the past, i mean purely along the lines of if it does eventually happen then i am just as well to keep the quad

any thoughts and input greatly received

Clevo has not been against multi OC'in on the systems they think can handle it, eg the M57x (both RU and TU) has up to 2x multi OC, so they may still add it to the M980NU

Ah now I didn't know they had allowed it on other models, that's interesting

was it allowed from release or was it added later?

My CPU seems to be performing just fine.

I believe it was allowed when clevo OK'd the extreme processors (ie at the 5793 launch)

thats interesting, so it was a post launch bios they released. So if the cooling on the M980 proves that it is relieable they may at some point release one with unlocked multi

Only keeping the laptop for about a year, if they havent released one by then i will move elsewhere :D
