Sager's being slow and not processing my order as fast as I would like, so I've had enough time to think come up with a dilemma.

Which machine is going to be more powerful or bottleneck first.

While the M980NU is going to support 3 graphics cards (and 2x 280m's with SLI) it won't be supporting desktop processors. Even though it's going to have the new i7 processor it still shouldn't match up the the 3.0ghz quad in the np9262.

The NP9262 with pretty much maxed out specs comes to about $3500, will a comparatively spec'd M980 cost about the same, or will it cost a ridiculous a mount more for a minor graphics upgrade and a slower processor. My budget's going to be around $4500 after shipping, so if I can't get the best version of the M980nu (or one that's a substantial upgrade from the NP9262) then it doesn't really seem worth the wait.

Also as far as the future goes will it be likely that the NP9262 will have newer GPUs released for it (past the 280m)?

    http://web.eurocom.com/EC/ec_model_config1(1,204,0)

you can get 4gb of 1333mhz ram, a qx9300, and 2 280m gtx's for a little less than $4500. the qx9300 can easily be overclocked to 3.5ghz which can outperform the 3.0ghz quad from the d900f, plus it has 2 280m gtx gpu's, which will no doubt outperform 1.

    http://www.kobaltcomputers.co.uk/acatalog/Comanche.html

for around $4500, you can get the new i7 3.2ghz 965 extreme cpu, 1 280m gtx, 6gb 1066mhz ddr3 memory, bluray reader/writer, and 1 320gb 7200rpm hd. the cpu will definitely outperform the qx9300, even if the qx9300 goes up to 3.8ghz, but it only has 1 280m gtx, so although the cpu is better, gaming performance won't be.

Well I was more or less comparing the M980NU vs the 901C(I believe that's the Clevo equivalent). The 900f is out of the question for me. No SLI is a no go. I was just wondering if 2x 280m's (instead of 2x 9800m gtx's) is worth sacraficing the 3.0ghz quad for. Also will the CPU on the M980 actually be overclockable, because it's not on the 901c

Also, the eurocom link isn't working.

Yes, the M980 extreme cpu's will be overclockable. You can get that QX9300 to at least 2.9 ghz, so the CPU's will be even, but you'll have to pay a lot for it. If you've got the time and the money, wait for the M980.

I think the M980 will definitely have the multipliers unlocked for the QX9300 to take as far as it can. It will just be plainly crazy not to have it.

Just a small comment on the pricing - if you're looking at $ prices from our configuration pages then you have to take the ex VAT price. That makes the 980NU with 4GB RAM, QX9300 and GTX 280M SLI ~$3800 and the D900F with 965 CPU, 1 x GTX 280M, 6GB RAM, BR/RW etc ~$4100.

Btw D900F with 965 is definitely no slouch on the game performance front :)

The M98 will probably have the 40nm Nvidia GPU updates down the line, which would be pretty substantial.

I think i'm leaning more and more into buying M980NU instead of D901F.
    I like the design :p
Hope the price is lower than D901F :D

If you get it with just one GTX 280M, the price won't be outrageous, depending on what the CPU choices are.

But is bigger/heavier :p , the M980NU design is pretty good (well i don't like the over sized g15 like buttons but anyway...) but i just can't accept the mobile cpu :D .

Yeah... I probably just gonna use 1 GPU. And in time, if a new game need more performance, will upgrade to SLI.

Btw, I use barebone prices for comparison.

The gaming button on the left actually also function as a "neutralizer" for the numpad section on the right thus keeping the main section of the keyboard on the middle position of the laptop body (touchpad as the "ground zero").

We tend to think the keyboard is leaned far to the right because we see the main section and the numpad section as one. And so create the optical illusion.

I wish they made the gaming keys with more buttons though. Will be useful in playing Simulator or RTS games.

Well if those buttons works like in the G15 ones it useless for me (i can't use it as a normal button so...) but they made those buttons just too big... They could double the number of buttons and it will still with a good size :D .

Ah, i know Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard...
I thought you're talking about another laptop though :p

Anyway, I believe those gaming keys in G15 is programmable. And so is the Clevo one :D

The keys on G15 can emulate others keys but you can't use it directly in any game what make totally useless to me :p

Most of us are actually used to having the W A S D buttons to the left of the screen, I see your point, but centered for me and most others, means the actual keyboard itself including the numpad so in essence it is actually moved off to the right and not an optical illusion for some of us.

I know what you mean Crylo...
But the gaming keys is better on the left because our right hand handle the mouse.
