How much will the new M98 cost in US $$?
About 4K? Is that right? I could not imagine paying more than 4,500 US $ for it.
Some places have it at $7K? It's ridiculous.
Anyway, I plan on buying it. I want to get the latest and best gaming laptop on the market, and the M98 is it. Unless anyone knows a better one. Ideally it would come with an i7 too, but I guess we can't always get everything we want.

I wont be buying it, 18.4 is completely unnecessary for a gaming laptop, they could have done all of this in a 17" frame IMO, and of course, if it really is going to cost that much, the price will most likely be unpalatable for even those who are interested in this semi portable desktop. It is completely unattractive to me. -
I was thinking about this, but decided to get the last of the np9262. 18.4" is just a bit unpractical (I don't think that'll even fit in my ruck sack, and definitely not in my assault pack). Also the expected price difference was a bit much just to go from 9800m gtx sli to 280m sli

$7k? What sauces are you looking at?
I expect that a P9600 + SLI will be below $3k US dollars. -

I think there will be several configs under 3500. You would think that Clevo would want to compete a little with the Asus W90 18.4... imo. Although, the M98 in my book is better looking and should out perform it as well.
-
I pre-ordered a Clevo M98 for a little over $5K.
And that is with the Quad Extreme 2.33GHz. 9X300
And the 280MSLI.
With a cheaper processor and a single 280M it comes to about $3500.
Pretty expensive laptop. -
Can't wait to see this monster unleashed.
When are you getting it man? -
Ordered from where? Those prices are bogus. $3500 before SLI? Rubbish.
-

They sure do sound bogus, 3500 before SLI and 5000+ with SLI sounds a little far fetched to me, sounds like someone saw him coming a mile away or he will be getting a nice chunk of cash back after final pricing. -

I hate to nitpick but I'm really not liking that keyboard shifted off to the right like that, and those customizable buttons look unnecessarily big to me. The keyboard and those buttons give it a really cheap-ish look IMO and detract from the overall look of the laptop. -
IMO,if they price it more then 2.5k,no one will buy it over asus w90!
-
I won't pay more than $3000 for it with the QX9300, one GTX 280m, and three HDD drives. Nothing more.
-
I pre-ordered it from Eurocom.com.
You can configure it at their product listing page, even though it has not shipped yet. You can see the prices for yourself.
Is it not legit? Then I should cancel it! I don't want to get my 5K taken like that!
I still don't think it will be any cheaper than 3.5K. -
It's exactly 3K without SLI and with 2ghz Quad-Core. Souped up it is over 5K.
-
I can't find their configuration page. How do you get there from the home page? The M98 isn't listed under the showroom or product list.
-
Go to their product library link at the top of the page.

lol Cancel it, wait until official pricing, and even then, when the laptops are shipping and official pricing is known make sure you get Eurocom to do a price match with a company like XoticPC or something, as Eurocom's pricing is an absolute joke and will undoubtedly be much more than the other vendors. -
Ok, well the GTX 280M is already confirmed by RJ Tech as $490, so that's off by $115 for the second card. Yeah, they're either guessing or lying.
And LOL at the HDD prices. $400 for the $140 Seagate 500GB 7200RPM. Shenanigans. -

Exactly what I was saying in another thread a few weeks ago, if they cant match the Asus W90's price there is a good chance the phase out date of this laptop might come sooner than expected. -

Eurocom is a CA$H first customer second kind of company, knowingly over inflating the prices on their website hoping a sucker or two will come along not informed enough to know about the real cost of the things they are selling.
People always need to shop around and when dealing with Eurocom, find the cheapest price elsewhere then get a price match. -
Only if it is available as a barebone for under $1400.
-
i won't be buying it...way too heavy. Next gen CLEVO middle weight 17inch lappie FTW (9.5 lbs or less)
-
I will more than likely buy one as spec'd out as I can afford. I like the backlit keyboard and the design (I don't like most clevo designs). Besides that, I will see the benches first and see how well everything is supported (Drivers, OC ability, etc). This is why I delayed buying the Asus W90VP.
I only have a few questions:
Are the LED lights changable (Like alienware)?
Also, I think I saw somewhere where the cover had LED lights on it with leopard eyes, then another had style note lit up. Which is it going to be?
Or is everything about it right now a shot in the dark until it comes out (which I can't find the ETA on)? -

I would recommend waiting too. At CES in January Asus displayed the W90, I played with it a little and to me it looked cheap, not as quality in looks and build as the M980NU from what I have seen. Also the Asus has the X38 chipset which is old already. I think Clevo has a winner that should sell well. -
Just history repeating itself sameet, vendors will always charge a premium in the first few weeks to own the next most powerful laptop on earth like this one will probably end up being. Obviously it'd NICE to see you get your hands on this baby and post pics, benches ect coming from a potential buyer myself but I don't think any of us would advise paying the premium they are seeming to charge right now.

On the EC thing,

"Most of us" know about Eurocom's sly price gouging tactics and we know how to deal with them, but in some cases some don't, hence some of the advice given in this thread.. Your redirect to that other thread was unnecessary as I had already explained to him about Eurocom and their tactics and price matching. -
So are you all saying I was suckered into a bad deal?
What should I do? Cancel the order, and wait for a better price somewhere else? -
The waiting game is always the best game to play in this kind of situation. so I would say yes. When clevo release official pricing then I would look around. As of now the prices are only speculative.
-
Yes, cancel the order.
-
Yea, as Kevin said, cancel the order. Their CS is also a hit or miss...
-
Will do so, unless I can negotiate the price down. I wonder if Clevo will sell the laptop directly.
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
Clevo doesn't sell laptops directly, they ship to resellers like Eurocom and Sager which rebrand and sell the laptops themselves or ship to smaller resellers like XoticPC and Powernotebooks. I wouldn't even try to bargain them down at the moment, as even if they did bargain with you a bit it would surely still be more expensive than you would pay elsewhere.
I know you're excited and ready to pull the trigger on a purchase but trust me and wait it out. Find the cheapest reseller at product launch and if you still want to go through Eurocom get them to price match the cheapest reseller you find. -
