this morning the big pig(our name for the BFG Diemos) would not boot up. the back light came on. so I decided to dissect the issue. took it down to removing and reseating the Memory and processor. the best I got was the screen running through the primary and secondary colors. Anyone have any ideas?

Hooking up to an external monitor, or TV, will tell us a lot about the seriousness of the situation.
Try it out. -
I will try that after lunch.
-
no video what so ever from the DVI port
-
Try the ol disconnect from all, disconnect battery and hold power button for 30 seconds. Hook it all back up and see what you get.
-
Nothing. I was hoping though.

It sounds to me like the videocard may be dead. You might be able to replace it or bake it. All up to you though, BFG is toast.

Looks as if it was the Video card. Thanks everyone for all their help.

is the M980NU video card slot a MXM 2.1 or 3 ?
-
yes. Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M; 16x PCIe; DX10 from eurocom.

BFG may be toast but you can use your toaster oven to bake your card to reflow it. It's worth a shot. Pretty common for that Nvidia generation to die and be resurrected by baking.
There are like 100 successes in this thread alone:
Holy crap, it worked! Dead video card resurrected! - [H]ard|Forum -
Does anyone know if the GTX285 will run in the M98NU? what is the highest card it will run?
-
I may have to try and bake mine.

Turns out it was not the card after all. After reseating the 280 it was fine. The 285 I tested was from eurocom as well.
