Ever since I've bought my laptop (P650RE3) way back 2016, I've switched to DISCRETE mode to use G-Sync. A few days ago, I tried to switch back to MSHYBRID mode and I noticed I'm getting more FPS from the games I'm playing. A few minutes after switching to MSHYBRID mode, my laptop stopped charging and my charger's LED's turned off. This is weird because it has never happened before. I switched back to DISCRETE mode and the problem never occurred again. So it got me thinking..

    1. Why is MSHYBRID giving me better performance than DISCRETE mode when it should be the opposite

    2. Why is my laptop's charging being weird when I'm on MSHYBRID mode?

    1. Power profiles in the likes of control center and windows may be different.

    2. Could be an issue with your adaptor, the power consumption is ever so slightly higher but unlikely to tip something over the edge.

I checked and the settings are the same. Could be the charger but this is a new charger (been using for 2 months) and I've never had any issues with it until I switched to MSHYBRID. I'll try to find my old charger to test

Have you switched back since to determine if hybrid mode causes the charging problem every time?

If a power supply has issues it's either within the first few months or in a few years time.

Any electronic device actually. The failure curve has a higher rate when new at difference with mechanical devices wich failure rate increases in time

It will start to track with age though as the components reach their rated life and the failure rate will go up again, it will make a "U" shape.
